Department Overview

The TDS Infrastructure Business Management Group is a centralized team providing consistent level of business management support, ranging from business operational effectiveness, portfolio and financial planning, colleague engagement programs across TDS Infrastructure.

Job Description

Reporting to the AVP, Infrastructure Business Management, the Senior Manager, will be responsible to lead key mandates in support of TD Securities Infrastructure Business Management function:

  • Be a strategic partner & trusted business advisor to TDS Infrastructure Executives on the management of their portfolio and financials, identifying operational efficiencies and opportunities with other business management / enterprise areas.

  • Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership to executive audience.

  • Financial Governance - orchestrate planning cycles across the organization related to budgeting and forecasting.

  • Lead the governance requirements related to resource and third-party engagement approvals.

  • Set operational team direction and collaborate with peers to execute on common goals.

  • Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners.

  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units.

Key Accountabilities

Customer

  • Develop, communicate and implement a holistic strategy for own specific business.

  • Oversee / lead / manage and plan a work activity that may require alignment across multiple areas.

  • Lead the team in the development and/or integrated implementation of policies.

  • Forecast programs / initiatives and demand, and coordinate prioritization of the portfolio/ initiatives with key stakeholders.

  • Provide functional / business level communications to ensure messages to stakeholders are consistent.

Shareholder

  • Ensure team adheres to enterprise frameworks and methodologies related to overall business management activities.

  • Lead relationships with corporate and/or control functions to ensure alignment with enterprise requirements.

  • Support team in staying knowledgeable on emerging issues, trends, and evolving regulatory requirements.

  • Assess / identify key issues and escalate to appropriate levels.

  • Maintain a culture of risk management and control.

  • Identify, mitigate and report on risk issues per enterprise policy.

  • Ensure business operations are in compliance with applicable internal and external requirements.

  • Work closely with key business leaders to optimize resources.

  • Lead or contribute to cross-functional / enterprise initiatives.

  • Manage oversight process, risk-based identification and monitoring of related risks.

  • Oversee or lead the facilitation and/or implementation of action/remediation plans.

Employee/ Team

  • Responsible for management of the overall team(s) providing both leadership and guidance.

  • Set targets and objectives for the team, and deliver results.

  • Grow team expertise to align with enterprise demand.

  • Foster an environment / culture that encourages productivity and innovation.

  • Co-ordinate necessary resources to ensure completion by deadlines.

  • Provide coaching, development, and overall team leadership.

  • Prioritize and manage own workload in order to deliver quality results.

  • Support a positive work environment that promotes service to the business.

  • Identify and recommend opportunities to enhance productivity.

  • Establish effective relationships across multiple business and technology partners.

  • Participate in knowledge transfer within the team and business units.

Breadth & Depth

  • Oversee and lead a large and/or highly complex, and diverse business management function.

  • Strategic partner to leadership team on the management of the portfolio and financials.

  • Facilitate key strategic discussions and provide thought leadership.

  • Set operational team direction and collaborate with others.

  • Focus on longer-range planning for functional area.

  • Generally reports to business management executive.

Job Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in strategic planning and strategy development.

  • Demonstrated good judgment in dealing with sensitive situations.

  • Strategic thinker, with experience managing work effort.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of project, program and portfolio management.

  • Understanding of Wholesale banking businesses an asset.

  • Team player who excels at delivering high quality work.

  • Excellent communication and time management skills.

  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple projects.

  • Proven ability to develop strong business relationships.

  • Advanced facilitation, presentation and active listening skills.

  • Flexible and adaptable - comfortable with ambiguity.

Additional Information

  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent work experience.

  • Graduate degree would be an asset.
