The salary range for this position is CAD $40.83/Hr. - CAD $50.94/Hr.
Summary
Reporting to the Patient Care Manager, the Diagnostic Vascular Technologist performs and assesses non-invasive diagnostic tests on the vascular system utilizing duplex ultrasound, continuous wave Doppler and/or plethysmography equipment. Your duties will include:
Receive and prepare patients for testing
Evaluate accuracy of diagnoses
Perform quality control duties
Participate in inter-disciplinary team meetings and local committees
Enter procedure data into the computerized system
Provide instruction regarding procedures, equipment, and techniques to staff trainees, student technologists, and other staff as required
What You Bring
Education:
Graduation from a recognized program in Diagnostic Medical Sonography
One year of recent related experience
Current certification with Canadian Association of Registered Diagnostic Ultrasound Professionals (CARDUP) for the assigned practice area (e.g., vascular)
Current certification with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) for the assigned area (e.g., vascular)
Skills & Abilities:
Strong interpersonal skills, capable of dealing with others effectively
Physical capability to perform the duties of the position
Strong organizational skills
Proficiency in operating related equipment and systems
Aptitude for critical thinking to resolve problems
Up-to-date knowledge of vascular ultrasound procedures and technologies
Capability to provide instruction when needed

Your Day to Day
Reviews requisitions from physicians and patients' case history
Explains procedures and assesses patient comfort
Determines testing process and correlates clinical history with examination
Positions patients and conducts various tests
Operates Doppler equipment and records findings
Submits results to physicians for review and authorization
Evaluates accuracy of diagnoses
Seeks guidance from Medical Director and relays data/information
Provides guidance on test merits to medical community
Conducts equipment tests and records results
Requisitions equipment repair as needed
Participates in multi-disciplinary team meetings
Attends meetings and provides input on relevant issues
Inputs and maintains patient and procedural data
Enters data into computerized systems accurately
Maintains knowledge of vascular technology developments
Reviews literature and participates in professional development activities
Provides instruction to staff and trainees
