Job Title: DevOps Engineer

Department: Software Engineering

Location: Calgary, AB, Edmonton, AB, Vancouver, BC, Toronto, ON

Work Arrangement: This role is primarily based in the office environment with occasional work-from-home flexibility

Position Overview:

Reporting to the Director of Software Engineering, the DevOps Engineer is responsible for managing AWS cloud infrastructure, ensuring high availability, implementing continuous integration and delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, and maintaining the overall health and performance of systems.

Primary Job Functions:

• AWS Cloud Management:
  • Implement and maintain AWS services, including EKS, Redis, DynamoDB, EC2, S3, and CloudFormation.
  • Ensure security and compliance of the cloud infrastructure.
• CI/CD Pipeline Development:
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using tools like Jenkins, GitLab, or AWS Code Pipeline
  • Automate build, test, and deployment processes.
• Monitoring and Performance Optimization:
  • Monitor cloud resources and applications using tools like AWS CloudWatch.
  • Analyze and optimize system performance for enhanced efficiency.
• Infrastructure as Code (IaC):
  • Manage infrastructure using IaC tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.
  • Ensure version control and documentation of infrastructure changes.
• Collaboration and Support:
  • Work closely with development teams to integrate DevOps practices.
  • Provide support and troubleshooting for cloud-related issues.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Education:
  • Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field.
• Experience:
  • Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of experience in DevOps, specifically in an AWS environment.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes for containerization and orchestration.
• Skills & Abilities:
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like Python or Bash.
  • Strong understanding of network and security best practices in AWS.
  • Solid knowledge of CI/CD pipelines and related tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills to work effectively across departments.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve technical challenges efficiently.
