Working as part of a cross-functional team, you deliver the RDQ activities required to complete new product development, portfolio maintenance, and/or productivity projects with an emphasis on meeting the desired consumer experience.

How you will contribute

With the support and guidance of a manager, you will organize and execute projects in line with RDQ, marketing, and manufacturing requirements, effectively communicating status and risks. You will plan and conduct pilot plant and factory trials in accordance with good manufacturing practice and HACCP requirements and development activities (e.g., product shelf-life testing, designing for quality, consumer test preparation, etc.). You will also write technical reports that will require the analysis and interpretation of results and that lead to conclusions and recommendations and create and maintain accurate consumer-led specifications.

Additional Job Description

The holder of this position works closely as support for senior project leads, which includes specification work and a high level of organization required. They will ensure day-to-day of the lab and office is in good working order, including cleaning, proactively organizing, sample making, and ingredient sourcing support.

Job specific requirements:

  1. Drive excellence in supporting Project Management and specification work, shelf-life, etc.
  2. Plan and execute work plans, including development of risk assessments and contingency plans.
  3. Analyze results of experiments and translate them into actionable recommendations with support.
  4. Have good knowledge of the commercialization process.
  5. Identify and efficiently utilize necessary resources to achieve timely delivery of project objectives.
  6. Maintain pilot labs, order consumables, ensure accurate inventories, and equipment calibration, etc.

The candidate must be versatile and be able to work in cross-functional teams. The candidate must be capable of working proactively across multiple priorities.

Qualifications, Education and Work Schedule:

  • BS in Food Science, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience, preferably in the food industry.
  • Good technical foundation and technical curiosity.
  • Ability to develop, plan for, and carry out plant trials as support for project leads.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and manage complexity - from bench top to commercialization, supporting along the life cycle of a project.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills; able to effectively communicate to all levels within the organization.
  • Limited travel.
  • Full-time salary, typical business hours with flexibility for trials outside of normal business hours.
