Salary Range: $70,100 - $80,800

This Opportunity
The Vancouver office at Smith + Andersen is currently seeking a Designer - Intelligent Integrated Systems. You are passionate about the design and engineering audiovisual, telecommunications, security and intelligent building systems. You have clear communication skills, and can effectively wield those skills to make sure clients, consultants, and contractors are kept in the loop. Your cool, calm demeanor helps you easily manage multiple tasks without getting frazzled, allowing you to take on the systems design for some of the biggest and most exciting projects in the country.

What You’ll Do

  • Produce all deliverables necessary for project completion including tender documentation, design briefs, cost documentation, site reports and computer models.
  • Prepare, or assist Project Managers with, the development of all system engineering concepts.
  • Work with project managers to prepare all calculations (e.g. heat and power loads) and select all equipment.
  • Ensure proper coordination of documents with the internal and external project team (architect, interior designer, and other disciplines).
  • Promote and enforce company standards relating to project administration, documentation and processes such as total quality management.
  • Ensure that shop drawing review process takes place within project timelines.
  • Prepare all change notices or reviews change notices issued by contract administration team.

Who You Are

  • Understanding of Codes and Standards relevant for the project and ability to communicate all requirements to the internal project team, external project team, owner, and Authorities having Jurisdiction.
  • Understanding (construction) project procurement methodologies and is able to recommend or apply such method for the project.
  • Demonstrate ability to work independently.
  • Demonstrate ability to work in a complex environment, dealing with multiple projects and clients.
  • Possess sound communication skills as demonstrated through client and staff relations.
  • Demonstrate experience working with other consultants and contractors, and coordination of major projects.
  • Have excellent problem solving and decision-making skills.
  • Display strong sense of urgency and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and CAD/Revit would be an asset.
  • Knowledgeable about the BISCI, EIA/TIA and CSA standards would be an asset.
  • Possess two or more years in audiovisual, telecommunications or security design would be an asset.
  • Certified Technology Specialist (CTS) designation and Manufacturer Training would be an asset.
  • P. Eng, RCDD, PSP, CTS-D, MCSE, CCIE Certifications would be an asset.
