Job description

Formworks and Scaffolding Contractor seeking experienced and business-minded Design Engineer to work on large buildings and infrastructure projects in Toronto. Salary $85,000 – $120,000. Outpost Recruitment is excited to work with our client on this full-time permanent role.

The Design Engineer is an integral member of the project team. They will supervise and/or carry out engineering designs to meet client needs and ensure they meet corporate and professional engineering and safety standards. Focusing on structural works including formwork, scaffolding requirements.

Duties & Responsibilities of Design Engineer:

  • Supervise, co-ordinate and/or conduct complex design /engineering assignments on multiple projects.
  • Monitor work schedule to ensure work is completed on time.
  • Review work for accuracy, completeness and to ensure it meets technical specification as well as company
  • standards.
  • Provides technical support/training for less experienced engineers, trainees and designers.
  • Checks, reviews, and approves application drawings.
  • Visits construction project sites and carries out inspections as required.
  • Works closely with sales representatives on engineering designs, which utilize products.
  • Provides backup support to senior engineer and engineer manager.
  • Occasional travel to branch offices to provide engineering support in those locations.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers and to less experienced engineers.

Qualifications of Design Engineer:

  • The job requires good written and oral communication skills (English) to convey facts and information clearly;
  • Sound working knowledge of AutoCAD software and MSOffice.
  • Good working knowledge of structural analysis software.

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in engineering or equivalent, with appropriate license.
  • Full membership in a recognized professional engineering association.
  • Minimum of seven (7) or more years of postgraduate working experience in relevant field, preferably in shoring, forming and access scaffolding applications or similar products.

Certifications, Licenses, Registrations of Design Engineer

  • Must posses a professional engineering license.
  • Commitment to professional career development.
  • Demonstrated team work and interpersonal skills, positive attitude, and ability to work collegially with sales personnel and others to provide customer-focused engineered solutions in the rental and/or sale of forming, shoring and scaffolding products.
  • Excellent leadership skill.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently and effectively, work overtime to complete task as required.
