Job description

Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Dental Assistant to join our dynamic dental practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our dental team and ensuring that our patients receive the highest level of care. This position requires a blend of clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a compassionate approach to patient interactions.

Duties

  1. Assist dentists during examinations and procedures by providing necessary instruments and materials.
  2. Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up trays, and ensuring all necessary supplies are available.
  3. Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays) as directed by the dentist.
  4. Record patient medical history and vital signs accurately.
  5. Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-operative care instructions.
  6. Manage patient appointments, including scheduling, confirming, and rescheduling as needed.
  7. Maintain accurate patient records using dental software systems such as Dentrix or Epic.
  8. Support pediatric patients with a friendly demeanor to ensure a comfortable experience.
  9. Collaborate with orthodontic procedures when necessary, assisting in the application of braces or retainers.

Requirements

  1. Completion of an accredited dental assisting program preferred.
  2. Proficiency in dental terminology and familiarity with CAD (Computer-Aided Design) is advantageous.
  3. Experience in pediatrics or orthodontics is a plus.
  4. Knowledge of dental software systems such as Dentrix or Epic is highly desirable.
  5. Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and the ability to multitask effectively.
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills to foster positive relationships with patients and team members.
  7. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and adhere to safety protocols within the practice.
  8. Certification in CPR and First Aid is preferred.
