What to Expect:

The Delivery Service Manager will be responsible to ensure outstanding last mile delivery services that meets Customer expectation, and in line with Nespresso international standards and guidelines. Drive innovative and sustainable solutions, in order to deliver distinct competitive advantage for Nespresso and the Customer. Manages overall operational day to day Last Mile Delivery and Transportation, for the Nespresso Canada Market.

A day in the life of a Delivery Service Manager

Delivery Services Strategy & Execution:

  • Define strategy with Supply Chain Management for optimum delivery within Market / Region
  • Ensure implementation of performant and innovative delivery service last mile carriers in accordance with commercial guidelines and Markets Services Survey insight

Develop operational excellence in Transportation and Distribution Management - Management of Day-to-Day Transportation

  • Optimizes overall transportation process, routing to deliver cost effective solutions while ensuring Optimized Customer Experience
  • Defines key performance indicators, monitors and benchmarks performance with similar Nespresso Markets & eCommerce industry.
  • Drives development and implementation of good practices to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in operations
  • Ensure timely and effective communication towards the organization concerning carrier service levels
  • Develop cross-functional alignment with Internal Logistics Operations, Quality, and Commercial business to ensure proper planning and execution of promotional activities

Timely administration of claims and ad-hoc reporting:

  • Conduct claims with our carriers for lost, damaged and stolen packages
  • Administrative support for carrier On-Time performance report and miscellaneous transportation reporting

Vendor Management, Contract Management and Sourcing

  • Manages relationship for all Key partners in delivery providers (small package carriers, LTL carriers Last mile) using internal insights.
  • Conducts regular Quarterly business reviews for performance, Service Level attainment, Continuous improvement programs and cost savings initiatives.
  • In alignment with Procurement Sourcing teams, manage vendor agreements with all last mile carriers for Nespresso business including participation in official tender processes, RFI, RFP, RFQ
  • Leads new carrier innovation, sources / develops new delivery partners in alignment to Business strategy

Budget Management of Variable Distribution Expense

  • Oversees budget for Transportation - Tracks variable distribution expense vs OP Budget and Monthly Dynamic forecast, communicates cost drivers of variances.
  • Supports preparation of annual budget, monthly DF estimates related to all B2C, B2B and Boutique carrier lanes.

Role Requirements

  • Bilingualism in English and French language skills are a requirement, as this position requires collaboration with stakeholders across the Canadian market.
  • At least 8-10 years of professional experience in Transportation operations and Direct-to-Consumer business model (logistics, distribution). 5 Years in Last Mile Delivery / E-commerce Modelling
  • Has worked/ been exposed to collaborative business development projects in logistics and distribution
  • Has successfully led projects and initiatives
  • Has been using systems for logistics and distribution processes and decision support
  • Has successfully managed relationship with external providers for warehousing, equipment and/or transport
  • Experience in leading a team, working cross functionally
  • Experience in strategic decision making related to Transportation and Last mile delivery
  • Business insight: understands commercial impact and implications of Supply Chain options and decisions on overall transportation
  • Transport Management Processes, Tools, Systems and related Best industry practice (Last Mile)
  • Insourcing versus Outsourcing of Transportation
  • Tendering, contract negotiations, and contract management.
