JOB SUMMARY

Reporting to the Driver Supervisor, the Team Lead Delivery Service Specialist’s primary responsibility is to help the supervisor in managing the team of drivers, and at the same time to be a valuable and exemplary team member. The Team Lead Delivery Service Specialist also executes the primary duties of a Delivery Service Specialist by providing direct to retail deliveries for a dedicated Metro customer. It is essential that the Team Lead Delivery Service Specialist creates collaborative and valuable relationships on the team as well as a positive customer experience by understanding and meeting his or her team members’ needs as well as the customers’ needs. Success in this role will be determined by positive interaction with team members (internal customers) and external customer satisfaction through on-time, accurate deliveries. Providing a positive customer interaction each and every time you interface with the internal and external customers is fundamental.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Operating a cube van, conducts deliveries on predetermined route using a GeoTab GPS system to provide accurate on-time delivery to multiple retail locations. Assigned delivery routes will vary from time to time.
  • Replaces the Drivers Supervisor when the supervisor is absent.
  • Strict adherence to completion of all documentation according to SOPs including manifests, obtaining signatures, use of safety tabs, etc.
  • At the Metro Hub in Montreal, loads totes with product into the van for delivery in a manner that prevents damage to the product.
  • Travels to other Metro spokes or to Concord, ON spoke if required.
  • Adheres to Metro’s safe motor vehicle driving methods, as well as strict adherence to all Provincial motor vehicle laws.
  • Maintains a clean delivery van, performs daily pre/post shift safety inspections and advises the Supervisor of any concerns or service recommendations.
  • Follows all SOPs regarding the safeguarding of Metro and its Customers' property against theft.
  • Works with Customer Service and the Logistics Coordinator to return damaged or stale-dated product not accepted at the retail location and transports the unaccepted product back to the DC, according to SOP.
  • Works with Customer Service and the Logistics Coordinator to accommodate rush deliveries and/or changes to the scheduled delivery route.
  • Establishes a positive relationship with all team members (Drivers) by being an example of positive attitude, good behaviour, attendance and high performance and by listening to his or her team members’ needs.
  • Establishes a positive relationship with the retail customer by understanding client expectations, meeting daily commitments, and addressing or referring any service concerns for priority resolution.
  • Adheres to established uniform requirements, maintains a professional image and handles all client interactions in a courteous, customer-oriented manner.
  • Demonstrates and promotes Metro’s Our WAY values on a daily basis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EXPERIENCE

  • One-year experience delivering with us is preferred.
  • Valid “G” or “Class 5” driver licence with a clean driver abstract.
  • Experience as a delivery driver in a time-sensitive, customer interfacing environment preferred.
  • Experience or comfortable using an on-board GPS navigation system.
  • Must agree to a criminal background check and credit check.

EDUCATION

  • Completion of secondary school is preferred or equivalent experience.
