Job Description
You will join a team in DBS Digital, Information and Technology responsible for implementing and improving digital solutions to support Civilian HR business needs. Working closely with architects, software developers, infrastructure engineers and change and release managers within Civilian People Change Delivery Services, your focus will be on coordinating the resolution of complex technical issues in existing and proposed solutions.

You will carry out the duties of a Senior Business Relationship Manager as defined by the Government Digital and Data framework. At Senior Executive Officer level, you are expected to identify technical issues and lead on their resolution, consulting SMEs and a wide range of information. You will maintain a focus on business need and escalate risks and issues as appropriate.

This is an opportunity to work with modern and powerful technologies such as Oracle Fusion SaaS (MyHR/CSM), the low-code Oracle development tools Visual Builder and APEX, the cloud-hosting platform Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) and Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) to exchange real-time information between applications. You will also join the team as it begins its journey to utilise AI capabilities within technical solutions.

This is a dynamic role providing the opportunity to develop or improve a range of digital skills including problem management, business analysis and delivery management. Working to the Lead Solution Architect, your role and responsibilities may differ from task to task depending on the requirement.

  • Communication of how activities meet strategic goals, contributing to the development of strategy and policies
  • Understanding and representation of user needs, ensuring impact on all users is considered in technology implementation
Person specification
You will have an aptitude for technology and an ability to understand the cause of technical issues. You will be motivated to remove technical blockers and by seeing operations resume or changes implemented.

You will be personable and approachable, and keen to engage with stakeholders. You will value the relationships you build and understand how to leverage these to get results.

You will be keen develop a career in the Digital and Data profession. You will preferably have experience as a software developer, infrastructure engineer or technical architect.

Additionally, You Will Possess The Following:
Strong written and oral communication skills:
  • Proactive and confident in engagement with business stakeholders, customers and technical colleagues
  • Able to articulate complex information in writing
  • Willingness to increase understanding and bridge gaps in knowledge by asking questions
  • Able to maintain focus on removing blockers and establishing next steps
Technical Understanding:
  • Good all-around competence with M365 applications – Teams, Sharepoint, Word, Excel, PowerPoint etc.
Desirable Criteria:
  • Background in software development, infrastructure engineering or technical architecture
  • ITIL certification

Alongside your salary of £44,590, Ministry of Defence contributes £12,917 towards you being a member of the Civil Service Defined Benefit Pension scheme.

The post does not offer relocation expenses.
