Day Camp Counsellors (6) - Summer 2025

OAKVIEW WOODS, SUMMER DAY CAMP COUNSELLORS (6)
Temporary Full Time; 40 hours/week; June 25-August 30, 2025

The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking six (6) creative, energetic and self-motivated team players to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of Oakview Woods Summer Day Camp Counsellors.

General Responsibilities: Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, Camp Counsellors will work as part of a team who are responsible for the creation, implementation and delivery of programs to campers 4 to 10 years of age. Camp Counsellors will engage with the campers in a variety of recreation programs by maintaining staff to camper ratios ensuring safety. The successful candidate(s) will be required to communicate effectively with campers, parents, the community and Town staff.

Qualifications:

1. Minimum age 16;
2. High school diploma and previous leadership training preferred;
3. Previous related job experience working with children 0 to 12 years of age;
4. Coaching experience in sport and certifications through NCCP or other sport specific accreditation including High Five, considered an asset;
5. Experience facilitating children’s activities, such as: sports, drama, crafts and musical programs, events or tournaments considered an asset;
6. Strong interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills required;
7. Ability to provide exceptional customer service and promote Town of Wasaga Beach recreation programs;
8. Effective problem solving skills required;
9. An acceptable and current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference check is required for individuals 18+ years of age;
10. Standard First Aid CPR – C with AED certification required;
11. General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
12. Ability to lead, work with and contribute positively to a service oriented team;
13. Ability to work in inclement weather conditions;
14. Available to attend SCRA Training on May 31, 2025.

Rate of Pay Range: $18.50 - $20.01 per hour
