Day Camp Assistant / Inclusion - Summer 2025

The Town of Wasaga Beach is seeking a creative, energetic and self-motivated team leader to fulfill the duties and responsibilities of Oakview Woods Summer Day Camp Assistant and Inclusion.

General Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Recreation Programmer, the Camp Assistant / Inclusion will work as part of a team who are responsible for the creation, implementation and delivery of programs to campers 4 to 10 years of age. Camp Counsellors will engage with the campers in a variety of recreation programs by maintaining staff to camper ratios ensuring safety. The successful candidate(s) will be required to communicate effectively with campers, parents, the community, and Town staff.

Qualifications:

• Minimum age 18;
• Minimum, high school diploma and leadership training;
• Post-secondary training in: recreation, social services, child and youth work, concurrent education or related field in-progress or completed, considered an asset;
• Demonstrated leadership experience through work, volunteer, or education required;
• Working with children who may have specific activity or participation strategies, familiarity with adaptive programming and inclusive recreation;
• Previous related job experience working with children 0 to 12 years of age;
• Coaching experience in sport and certifications through NCCP or other sport specific accreditation including High Five, considered an asset;
• Experience facilitating children’s activities, such as: sports, drama, crafts and musical programs, events or tournaments considered an asset;
• Strong interpersonal and effective written and verbal communication skills required;
• Ability to provide exceptional customer service and promote Town of Wasaga Beach recreation programs;
• Effective problem-solving skills required;
• An acceptable and current Vulnerable Sector Criminal Reference check is required;
• Standard First Aid CPR – C with AED certification required;
• General knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act;
• Ability to work in inclement weather conditions;
• Available to attend SCRA Training on May 31, 2025.

Rate of Pay Range: $29.51 to $34.74 per hour
