A note on Assignment Type: This position is currently listed as "Onsite"; however, the consultant will be remote due to COVID-19 related Work from Home (WFH) direction. Once the I&IT cluster staff are required to return to the office, the resource under this request will be required to work onsite as well.
Must have:
- Demonstrated experience working within database environments such as SQL Server 2012-2016 & Oracle 11g
- Expert experience working with SQL Server databases in the cloud (Azure preferred specifically SQL Managed Instance and SQL Database)
- Demonstrated experience working within operation systems environments such as Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 & 2019.
- Expert experience in migrating Oracle database (11g) to SQL Server (2016/2019)
- Expert experience in installing and configuring database servers (MS SQL 2016+) using various high availability technologies
- Extensive experience in performance tuning and troubleshooting, monitoring, patching and optimization of the databases
- Expert experience in developing and adhering to strong security practices with regards to Authentication, Authorization and Encryption
Description
Scope:
The Office of the Public Client and Trustee (OPGT) requires a Database Administrator/Developer L3 with 9+ years' experience to perform the required data migration tasks from existing OPGT legacy applications to the new Dynamics 365 OPGT solution.
Deliverables:
- Responsible for the creation and maintenance of SQL Server database & transaction processing environments related to the data migration tasks from existing OPGT legacy applications (mainly Oracle 11g) to SQL Server 2016/2019 backend databases.
- Provide technical support for transaction processing, data access, performance tuning, and database recovery.
- Provide strong technical knowledge and business subject matter expertise across a wide range of database technologies, with a primary focus on SQL servers.
- Provide knowledge transfer to the business and other IT resources, and maintaining documentation.
The Vendor's Personnel will also be required to:
- Complete work and achieve milestones within the assigned deadlines;
- Notify the Cluster/Ministry project Manager in writing of any issues or other material concerns related to the Assignment Deliverables, as soon as he/she becomes aware of them;
- Submit Deliverables for the Cluster/Ministry approval as they are completed;
- Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry security procedures and practices;
- Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry architecture/technology standards and best practices;
- Comply with the Ontario Government and the Cluster/Ministry Conflict of Interest and Confidentiality Guidelines;
- Provide knowledge and skill transfer to a designated Cluster/Ministry staff;
- Comply with the Ontario Government I&IT Directive, Operational Policy on the I&IT Project Gateway Process, and other applicable Guidelines, Standards and Procedures.

Experience and Skill Set Requirements:
Mandatory Requirements:
- 9+ years of proven working experience in Microsoft SQL Server technology and current on SQL Server releases (i.e. SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019)
- 5+ years' experience and expert knowledge of Oracle RDBMS 11-12 in a Windows environment and SQL Server RDBMS 2008-2016
Skills and Knowledge:
- 9+ years of proven working experience in Microsoft SQL Server technology and current on SQL Server releases (i.e., SQL Server 2012, 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019)
- Solid experiences of migrating Oracle databases to SQL Server.
- In-depth technical knowledge of SQL Server and Oracle database structure, transaction management and performance tuning.
- Experienced with data manipulation languages, data definition languages, physical database design, and application performance analysis & tuning.
- Install, configure and deploy MS SQL Server using automation and infrastructure as code and develop automation of the database processes, tasks and procedures.
- Experience of Operating Systems: Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 & 2019.
