Maplesoft Group is currently seeking a Database Administrator (Oracle and SQL) for our federal government client.

Tasks and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  1. Meet with the Project Authority or his/her representative, or with key stakeholders to confirm their requirements and their vision.
  2. Review documents provided by the Project Authority or his/her representative in order to understand the client systems and processes relevant to the project.
  3. Meet with key stakeholders to collect information on the as-is and to-be states of the IT systems and use the collected information to define the complete as-is and to-be states of the IT systems as required.
  4. Provide knowledge transfer on operational tasks done by the contractor, coaching and/or training to employees so that they can perform similar work in the same or other areas of the organization if required.
  5. Develop and provide all material relevant to knowledge transfer.
  6. Prepare Weekly Status reports and Work plans.
  7. Perform Oracle Enterprise Manager Administration tasks on new projects and in operations.
  8. Perform necessary optimizations to the database environment.
  9. Administer databases and database servers.
  10. Configure and administer the Database backups.
  11. Provide guidance, advice and recommendations on project initiatives related to database environments.
  12. Perform database security recommendations, configuration, administration, and support.
  13. Develop and maintain PS/SQL or/and Transact-SQL program units and SQL scripts.
  14. Design physical data model.
  15. Assist application developers with writing and tuning SQL scripts.
  16. Recommend and apply Oracle patches.
  17. Recommend and apply MS SQL Server patches.
  18. Provide technical support in character set conversion of existing database.
  19. Provide technical support and expertise in data migration from Oracle to MS SQL Server.
  20. Provide technical support and expertise in data migration from SQL Server 2016 to SQL Server 2019.
  21. Prior to starting any work, the Contractor must submit to the Project Authority or his/her representative a work plan describing the activities to execute in order to produce the deliverables required, including the timeline of each activity and a knowledge transfer plan; no work must be performed before being approved by the Project Authority or his/her representative.
