Database Administrator
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Range: $80,826.48 to $109,353.48
Location: 205 Henlow Bay Campus
Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 4:30 pm (35 hours/week)
Reporting to the Senior IT Project Manager, the Database Administrator (DBA) is responsible for the management and maintenance of the college-wide databases. This includes installing, configuring, maintaining, monitoring and improving the performance of MITT databases. They are responsible for data security and integrity of MITT databases. The database administrator is integral to the efforts of the software development team through database management and ongoing maintenance. They will work to determine ways to organize and store data, identify user requirements, set up and configure new databases, and ensure the performance of the systems. The database administrator will have a good understanding of both technical and business needs of the college and end-users.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Manage MITT databases and ensure compliance with MITT policies.
- Implement and manage database security measures to protect data integrity.
- Design/Update databases to efficiently store and retrieve data.
- Monitor database performance and resolve issues.
- Develop and maintain database documentation, including data standards, procedures and definitions for data elements and tables in MITT.
- Identify and implement database requirements for new or existing applications by working collaboratively with other teams. Monitor database performance, implement changes and apply new patches and versions when required.
- Execute regular database maintenance tasks, including database defragmentation, backups, and database replication.
- Assist MITT projects with data migration and data clean up.
- Assist with designing and running reports as required.
- Collaborate with developers to design and implement new features as well as troubleshoot data-related issues.
- Assist with data analysis and analytics.
Required Qualifications and Experience:
- A bachelor's degree in computer science, computer programming, or a related discipline. A combination of education, training, and experience may be considered.
- 5+ years experience as a SQL Server Database Administrator (DBA) managing relational databases in a production environment.
- 3+ years supporting Development teams.
- 4+ years administering ERP systems.
- 4+ years experience writing complex SQL queries, stored procedures, triggers, and functions.
- Extensive knowledge of SQL and SQL server tools.
- Experience in Database Performance, Development, and Maintenance.
- Extensive knowledge in database design, implementation, and conversion.
- In-depth understanding of database security, backup and recovery, and performance monitoring requirements.
- Familiarity with relational and dimensional data modelling.
- Knowledge of PowerShell scripting.
- Experience with Query tuning.
- Prior experience with cloud services (AWS, Microsoft Azure).
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications and Experience:
- Experience working with external vendors and other teams.
Conditions of Employment:
