Job Description:

Reporting to the Data Science Chapter Lead, the Data Scientist focused on Geographic Marketing will be responsible for providing relevant insights specific to the different regions and postal/ZIP codes, for both Canada and the United States. This role involves sourcing information about our customers and the market, integrating it by building maps and visual representations of the data that are easy for stakeholders to understand. With a strategic position within the organization, the Data Scientist will provide ongoing support to different teams by understanding their needs, providing relevant insights, and identifying the latest regional/geographical trends in the market.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Own all the company’s geographical data & mapping, serving as a point of reference for inquiries about regional insights.
  • Collect, update, and analyze customer and market data from various internal and external sources, mapping it by regions.
  • Transform data into insights that improve business value.
  • Provide ongoing strategic support to different teams & stakeholders.
  • Work closely with marketing teams to identify priorities for Cogeco/Breezeline.
  • Prepare & present reports, communicating insights clearly and oriented towards Cogeco/Breezeline’s strategic priorities.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders across the company to understand their needs for regional insights.
  • Update stakeholders on new regional trends or changes observed in the market.
  • Maintain contact with data engineering and integration teams to ensure access to relevant information and data quality.
  • Collaborate, coach, and learn with a growing team of experienced Data Scientists.
  • Propose solutions and strategies to business challenges.

Requirements:

Academic Training:

  • Bachelor degree in a relevant field (Data Science, Business Intelligence, etc.) or a combination of equivalent education and experience.

Work Experience:

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the Telecommunications industry is an asset.

Specific Skills:

  • Proficiency in writing complex SQL queries.
  • Hands-on experience with Python is a plus.
  • Analytical ability to gather data, perform transformations, conduct complex analyses, and solve business and technical problems.
  • Experience with cloud platforms like Google Cloud, AWS, or Azure.
  • Good understanding of customer analytics and metrics (e.g. ARPA, Customer lifetime value, customer segmentation, clustering).
  • Proficiency with BI tools (Tableau or LookerStudio).
  • Advanced ability to analyze and draw insights from data and communicate them clearly to stakeholders and senior management.
  • Strong storytelling skills, able to build a strategy through to execution.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written; bilingualism in English/French is an asset.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal oversight.
  • Strong analytical skills and intuition with numbers, synthesizing disparate information sources.
  • Ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Team player with a collaborative spirit.
  • Openness to working in Agile environments with multiple stakeholders.
  • Experience working on GIS projects is a plus.
