Position Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Data Manager to join our team at H2Safety. The Data Manager will be responsible for overseeing and managing all data assets within the organization. This individual will act as the central authority on data governance, quality, and lifecycle management, ensuring that all stakeholders, including GIS and software departments, have access to accurate, secure, and well-structured data. The Data Manager will play a key role in optimizing data workflows, integrating industry best practices, and ensuring the integrity of oil and gas GIS datasets. This role requires extensive experience in handling geospatial data, particularly within the oil and gas sector, and a deep familiarity with modern cloud-based data management solutions.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Data Governance & Lifecycle Management
    • Develop and implement data governance policies to ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security.
    • Manage the full data lifecycle, from acquisition and storage to processing, analysis, and archiving.
    • Establish best practices for data validation, cleansing, and standardization to maintain high-quality datasets.
    • Ensure compliance with industry regulations and data management standards relevant to oil and gas.
    • Monitor and optimize data storage solutions, balancing cost efficiency and performance.
  2. Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as the primary liaison between the GIS and software departments to align data needs and usage.
    • Work closely with internal teams to define data requirements and improve workflows.
    • Communicate data trends, insights, and issues effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
    • Provide support and guidance on data management best practices across H2Safety.
  3. Technical Data Management & Optimization
    • Oversee the ingestion, processing, and maintenance of large-scale oil and gas GIS datasets.
    • Manage data integrations between various platforms, including GIS tools, enterprise databases, and software applications.
    • Optimize and automate data pipelines to enhance efficiency and scalability.
    • Ensure robust security protocols and access controls are in place for all data repositories.
    • Leverage cloud-based solutions, particularly Microsoft Azure, for scalable and secure data management.
  4. Technology & Tools Implementation
    • Utilize ESRI and other GIS platforms for geospatial data management and analysis.
    • Implement and maintain data management tools that improve efficiency and accuracy.
    • Stay up to date with emerging technologies and trends in data management, GIS, and cloud computing.
Qualifications & Experience

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

  1. 7+ years of experience in data management, with a focus on oil and gas GIS data.
  2. Proven expertise in data lifecycle management, governance, and quality control.
  3. Strong understanding of relational and geospatial databases.
  4. Experience working with large-scale GIS datasets and industry-specific data standards.
  5. Extensive experience in data modeling and design using tools such as Visio and Miro.
  6. Expert in FME Form, integrating with Environmental and Energy-related APIs, including IHS and Enverus datasets.
  7. Strong proficiency in data analysis tools such as SQL, Python, R, and SAS.
  8. Expert in Esri Geodatabase modeling, including the use of Subtypes and Domains.
  9. Experience modeling geospatial data for Esri mobile applications such as Survey123 and Field Maps.
  10. Excellent stakeholder management skills and ability to work cross-functionally.
  11. Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
Nice To Have Skills & Competencies
  1. Experience with Microsoft Azure for cloud-based data storage and processing.
  2. Proficiency with ESRI products (ArcGIS, ArcGIS Online, and Enterprise GIS solutions).
  3. Familiarity with data security best practices and regulatory compliance in oil and gas.
  4. Experience in data automation, scripting (Python, SQL), and workflow optimization.
  5. Exposure to AI/ML-driven data analytics and predictive modeling in geospatial applications.
  6. Experience with PostgreSQL/PostGIS is a plus.
  7. Knowledge of industry-standard data models such as PODS or APDM is a plus.
