What does the job involve?

Responsible for organizing, integrating, processing and analysing subsurface data and information to ensure data quality, security and regulatory compliance and support improved decision making and operational performance. Building on domain knowledge across the subsurface, supplement with strong knowledge of analytical, predictive tools and methods, supported AI techniques and technology to make data & insight available to decision makers across subsurface value chain.

You are utilizing your expertise to tackle tasks that have a tactical impact on the business. Your work aligns with Equinor's strategic goals, providing specialist support to your team and others. You communicate effectively within your team and with key stakeholders, navigating conflicting agendas and leading negotiations when necessary. You focus on resolving challenges, driving improvements, and establishing best practices. You advocate for change initiatives, adapt to new activities/technologies, and advise others. Additionally, you adhere to safety, ethics, and compliance standards while aligning with leadership expectations and company values.

What will my tasks be?

Within This Position, Your Key Tasks Will Be To:
  • Administer and oversee databases and systems, ensuring data accuracy and security. Perform routine checks and support data retrieval requests and coordinate data requirements across projects.
  • Contribute to data governance strategies, ensuring regulatory compliance across document control processes and data management systems, and drive cross-data optimization initiatives. Train staff in these systems and perform compliance checks.
  • Develop and/or support analytical models and apply advanced analytics to interpret complex datasets and advise on strategic decisions based on insights derived from data trends.
  • Design and manage data infrastructure, optimizing data flow and ensuring quality. Develop data pipelines and troubleshoot processing issues, supporting the overall data architecture.
  • Lead data projects, developing strategies, and aligning initiatives with strategic goals. Coordinate project tasks and communicate status to stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with IT teams and senior architects on larger projects, contributing to the design and implementation of data solutions. Support senior analysts and data scientists in complex modeling tasks and larger data projects.

  • Bachelor/Master in Geoscience, IT, Administration or a Technology related discipline. Lack of formal education will be considered based on relevant data and information management experience.
  • Strong knowledge of data and information management using such tools as SharePoint.
  • Experience with data governance, regulatory, compliance, and document management technologies.

The following is not mandatory, but is considered an advantage:

  • Data management in Landmark Openworks / Decisions Space and/or Schlumberger Petrel.
  • Experience with GIS/Map design software packages (e.g. ArcGIS).
  • Familiarity with scripting/programming, Linux / Unix, machine learning concepts, and data analytics/visualization.
  • Data sharing and management solutions (e.g. License2Share).
  • Seismic data loading experience.
