Contributes to establishing, supporting, and maintaining Technology Data Governance at Scotiabank as part of the Resilience Analytics team. A seasoned data analyst, you have experience providing data solutions and repositories with best-in-class data governance technologies. The incumbent will focus on defining the technology domain, identifying global authoritative sources of technology data, classifying data assets, cataloguing critical data elements along with their lineage, and managing data quality. The incumbent will be aware of regulatory requirements around data governance and aid in meeting all regulatory and audit requirements. Technology data revolves around the data to manage technology operations to reduce risk and improve resilience and reliability. This role ensures all activities are conducted in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies, and procedures.
Is this role right for you? In this role, you will:
Complete prioritized tasks and analysis to advance data governance within technology including all audit and regulatory requirements.
Advance the increased saturation of data governance across technology operations.
Work with the delivery teams and Data Office on properly cataloging Critical Data Elements (CDEs). This includes identifying data sources, mapping data/information flows, documenting data lineage, outlining data and payload models, clarifying transformation logic and influencing data model development.
Perform data profiling, analyze, and communicate results in support of data quality processes.
Identify important data gaps and suggest solutions, including the creation of metadata models and business glossaries.
Manage complex data analyses in working with both structured and unstructured data, including collating disparate data sets from many sources.
Document end-to-end data flows and lineage from capture at source, to storage, to delivery and its business intent at each stage (i.e., capture, transformation, fragmentation, editing).
Conduct dimensional modelling, metadata management, data wrangling, data cleaning and conforming, and warehouse querying.
Facilitate technology discussions, solutioning processes, and decision making with multiple groups including technology teams and across Scotiabank business areas, risk teams, and audit teams.
Consider the Bank's risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities and decisions.
Actively pursue effective and efficient operations of their respective areas in accordance with Scotiabank’s Values, its Code of Conduct, and the Global Sales Principles, while ensuring the adequacy, adherence to and effectiveness of day-to-day business controls to meet obligations.

Monitor project progress by tracking activity, resolving problems, publishing progress reports and recommending actions.

Do you have the skills that will enable you to succeed in this role? We'd love to work with you if you have:
3+ years’ experience working as a senior contributor in a data focused team working with data governance, data management frameworks, cataloging CDEs, and tracing/managing data lineage.
3+ years’ experience leading meetings and creating presentation decks for various technical, business, and risk/compliance audiences. Skilled in summarizing and providing insights from complicated processes.
2+ years operational Technology Experience and understands the concepts of Technology Risk, Resilience, and Reliability.
2+ years’ experience with ServiceNow or other ITSM solutions. ITIL V3/V4 certified preferred.
2+ years’ experience in documenting or defining processes for Incident and Problem Management.
Strong business acumen, data analysis, metadata documentation, and data quality control skills, including analyzing business process controls, sourcing lineage, identifying data quality issues, and proposing remediation steps.
Above average written and spoken English includes the ability to synthesize complex ideas from various sources.
Proven interpersonal and negotiation skills that allow you to build consensus and obtain cooperation from both support teams and senior management.
Demonstrates initiative and problem-solving abilities, while also effectively collaborating with team members.
Nice to have:
Spanish speaker and have experience collaborating with cross-functional teams in highly geographically diverse backgrounds.
Experience in development/engineering in a Data Warehouse environment including Python ETL, SQL, and Power BI Visualizations. Google Cloud Experience preferred. The technology stack comprises several components, including SQL/SQL Server, Power BI, Python, and various other scripting languages. Hadoop, Hive, and R.
Experience with predictive analysis and machine learning.
Experience with open-source data integration platforms like Airflow, NiFi, Prefect.
Experience storing, manipulating, and integrating NoSQL data to BI reporting.
Experience with IT Governance concepts; COBIT.
Experience working in an Agile team environment.
