Data Engineer

Job Title: Data Engineer

Duration: 6-month Contract

Location: Toronto, ON

Work type: Hybrid - 2 days on-site

Pay range: C$70 - C$90/Hr

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform data analysis using SQL, identify critical data elements, propose data quality rules, and document data management requirements.
• Self-starter who is able to lead meetings independently with data and technology stakeholders to understand the upstream data sources, SQL codes written by others, and data lineage documents of upstream data sources and their metadata.
• Articulate complex, large-scale, and high-impact technical design and development details to non-technical business partners.
• Excellent convincing skills and problem-solving skills; possess a growth mindset.
• Elicit, analyze, and understand business and data requirements to develop complete business solutions, including data models (entity relationship diagrams, dimensional data models), ETL and business rules, data life-cycle management, governance, lineage, and metadata.
• Ensure data is maintained in compliance with enterprise data standards, policies, and guidelines.
• Provide support to the development and testing teams to resolve data issues, including escalation support on complex issues.
• Support partners and stakeholders in interpreting and analyzing data.
• Build effective working relationships with data and technology teams to encourage collaboration.
• Support the QA team with data analysis/investigations of complex issues/test cases as part of SIT/UAT/PAT testing.
• Provide oversight on post implementation activities.
• Execute code check-in/check-out into source code repository as part of source code management.
• Work closely with technology team to support code packaging & deployment into higher environments.
• Lead the meetings with stakeholders to understand data lineage and document the requirements for technology.
