We are hiring! If you are a seasoned and motivated Data Engineer this is the perfect opportunity to join our growing team of Datalinx Squad & Enterprise Data and Advanced Analytics. Self-directed and comfortable supporting multiple teams, systems and products across a full spectrum of technologies. The role will focus on Datalinx product enhancements and application support.

This role will report to: the Head of Enterprise Data & Analytics

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Provide subject-matter expertise in delivering the technical design, development, and implementation of complex technical solutions and ongoing sustainment of Datalinx Applications.
  2. Collaborate with cross-functional teams and business partners to understand and analyze requirements.
  3. Assemble large, sophisticated data sets that meet functional/non-functional business requirements.
  4. Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code using relevant programming languages and frameworks.
  5. Administration and management of all AWS services, such as S3 buckets, RDS databases, EC2 instances, EMR, VPC network, Security Groups, Cloud Formation stacks, CloudWatch, Managed Airflow, Simple Notification Services, etc.
  6. Build the infrastructure required for optimal extraction, transformation, and loading of data from a wide variety of data sources using SQL and AWS ‘big data’ technologies.
  7. Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements: automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability, performance, etc.
  8. Practice established development disciplines such as good code management, branching and merging of code in a GIT repository.
  9. Have relevant and highly developed professional and technical skills; experienced level of knowledge in field of expertise and strong knowledge of business/context.
  10. Collaborate with external and internal clients, manage expectations and handle queries.
  11. Be available for on-call and off business hours support on a rotation basis.

Must haves:

  1. University degree, College diploma or relevant job experience in Computer Science, Statistics or Mathematics.
  2. 5-8 years of overall IT experience and 4+ years in Perl programming language.
  3. Good understanding of data warehousing and data modeling techniques.
  4. Big Data technologies including Spark, Hive, Presto, etc.
  5. Experience in performance tuning for Spark jobs, Hive tables required.
  6. Strong knowledge of AWS cloud technology and Hadoop implementation on AWS including S3, EC2 and EMR.
  7. Experience in programming languages like Python, Scala.
  8. Proficient in Oracle SQL, PL/SQL and Database programming, Unix shell scripting.
  9. Strong knowledge of Oracle, Postgress databases.
  10. Experience with development using Agile methodologies.
  11. Experience in Crystal report 2+ years and Java programming 4+ years.
  12. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  13. Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills; strategic thinker.
  14. Strong analysis/design experience.
  15. Meticulous attention to detail.
  16. A self-starter with ability to follow through on projects assigned.

Nice to haves:

  1. Good knowledge in Capital Markets business.
  2. Experience in Crystal report.
  3. Experience in Java programming.

Note: Hybrid role - 2 days in the Toronto Downtown Office.
