Role: Data Analytical Specialist/Scientist - Junior

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Duration: 12 Months Contract With possible extension.

Tools and techniques - 50%

1. Superior Knowledge of MS analytical products in particular Excel and data validation on Excel forms.
2. Experience with SQL databases
3. Experience cleaning, transforming, and joining data
4. Experience in creating and applying data standards
5. Experience with dimensional data models
6. Statistical modeling using R and experience integrating R with Microsoft Power BI an asset
7. Experience building visualizations in R Shiny, SAS, Python, Esri/ArcGIS, Microsoft PowerBI, and Power Viewer, Cognos an asset

Power BI and Analytics Experience - 25%

1. Experience developing business intelligence and various analytics resources
2. Experience with cleaning, transforming, integrating, and visualizing data sets
3. Experience understanding a data model
4. Experience creating interactive visuals

Communication Skills - 20%

1. Experience in developing documentation on data standardization and requirements
2. Demonstrated consulting and relationship management skills, with proven ability to elicit requirements, develop/consult on options and solutions, and provide effective guidance
3. Strong verbal and written communication skills; with both technical and non-technical audiences
4. A demonstrated team player with a track record for meeting deadlines

OPS Experience - 5%

1. Previous public sector experience in an organization of equivalent size and complexity to the Ontario Public Service.
