1. Collect data to identify areas for improvement within an organization's IT infrastructure
2. Develop and implement a strategic blueprint to follow when deploying databases within their organization
3. Develop and maintain computer databases
4. Document reporting needs, queries, logic, results and recommendations to other information systems professionals
5. Liaise with staff on data requirements, collection and availability
6. Provide advice to other informatics professionals regarding database management tools
7. Setup the IT infrastructure to allow applications to access databases
8. Test data models and database management systems
9. Design and develop database
10. Operate database management systems to analyze data
