Job description

The Department of Psychiatry in the Cumming School of Medicine invites applications for a Data Analyst. This Fixed Term Recurring Part-time position is for approximately 12 months (based on length of grant funding), with the possibility of extension.

Reporting to the Principal Investigator.

Summary of Key Responsibilities (job functions include but are not limited to):

  • Performs data cleaning, data management, and statistical analyses (including survival analysis and analysis of longitudinal data)
  • Perform easy to complex statistical analysis, supported by Principal Investigator, Program Manager and researchers
  • Assists in the preparation of data for scientific presentations and research manuscripts
  • Searches, obtains, and reviews literature to determine appropriate statistical techniques as required

Qualifications / Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology/Medical sciences or equivalent is required; a Masters or PhD is preferred
  • Courses in database management, multi-regression analysis, survival analysis and repeated measures analysis
  • Working expertise of Statistical software: SPSS (mandatory), STATA and/or Splus/R, Jointpoint analysis software (asset)
  • Proficiency in a Windows environment: Knowledge of MS office and MS Access (mandatory)
  • Candidates with courses in database management, Survival Analysis, Clinical Trials, MetaAnalysis, and/or undergraduate Computer Programming will be given priority
  • Strong communication, organization, time management, and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to accuracy and attention to detail
  • Excellent computing skills with software packages such as Stata, SAS, and/or Splus/R
  • High degree of judgment, analytical, and problem-solving skills
