Applications are invited for the full-time position of Cyber Security Analyst in the Information Technology Services department located at the Welland Campus. The salary range is $46.08/hr to $53.43/hr (Payband K) for a 40-hour work week.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Information Security, the Cyber Security Analyst provides expert advice and technical support in information/cyber security related technical planning, architecture design, installation and integration, monitoring and maintenance of IT Information Security systems including networking, computing, software, and external Software as a Service (SaaS) and Cloud components.
The Cyber Security Analyst will act as the technical advisor for the efficiency, effectiveness, evaluation, utilization, modernization, and interoperability of security systems with existing networking and computing environments and will ensure oversight of the appropriate application of information security policy and practice and the coordination of information security efforts across the institution.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Contributes to the development of the College's security policies and new requirements which includes creating enterprise and user standards, risk and audit controls, cyber security training systems, and data information standards.
- Oversees and conducts security monitoring, vulnerability assessments, penetration testing, threat hunting, cyber incident response, and digital forensics.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive documentation for information security infrastructure, policies, standards, and guidelines. Prepares project documentation and user/service desk documentation for new systems and services.
- Provides security-focused technical guidance for implementing and integrating current and future servers, services, applications, and college or similar enterprise networks.
- Serves as a technical advisor to ITS management, team members, and College staff.
- Leads technical and planning projects to ensure adherence to the College's security strategy and standards. Coordinates with ITS teams, other college teams, and vendors involved in designing, planning, and implementing servers, services, and applications on the college network.
Qualifications:
- Three (3) year diploma/degree in Computer Science, Cyber Security, or a related field of study.
- Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in computing and information security within a large corporate or enterprise network.
- Relevant industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CEH, or CompTIA Security+ considered an asset.
- Strong understanding of internet technologies, enterprise network concepts, and communication protocols.
- Proficiency in security information and event management (SIEM) tools.
- Experience with network security technologies such as firewalls, VPNs, IDS/IPS, Web Application Firewalls, Vulnerability Management platforms and endpoint protection.
- Knowledge of cloud security frameworks and best practices, particularly for platforms such Microsoft Azure.
- Experience with modern authentication methods and identity management systems (e.g., SSO, MFA).
- Familiarity with regulatory compliance requirements and frameworks such as GDPR, HIPAA, and PCI-DSS.
- Competency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, PowerShell) for automating security processes.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical users.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of thinking critically under pressure.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to multi-task and meet tight deadlines.
- Experience with security incident response and digital forensics.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
