Reports to: CVITP Coordinator
Hours: Monday to Friday, possibility of evenings and weekends required
Term: Contract, Part time
Salary: Pay Band 3 (Support): $20.61 to $26.67/hr. (2024)
Job purpose: The CVITP Program Assistant is responsible for support of the Program Coordinator of the Community Volunteer Income Tax Program, which provides support to low-income individuals who require assistance preparing their annual CRA income tax forms.
Duties and responsibilities:
- Program Support:
- Assist with day-to-day program activities:
- Answering client calls
- Inputting client data into the database
- Processing paperwork
- Maintaining program files
- Helping and supporting clients to complete intake forms
- Liaising with the Program Coordinator to support volunteers
- Follow program practices and protocols.
- Engage with community resources to support the improvement of services to participants.
- Assist with training and supporting program volunteers as required.
- Update and maintain the volunteer schedule.
- General office duties including but not limited to mail, photocopying, filing, etc.
Research, Analysis, Evaluation, Consultation:- Assist with project and program evaluation activities.
- Gather information to inform the annual evaluation of the program.
Other Duties:- Contribute to an inclusive environment in which clients, staff, and volunteers are treated with respect.
- Other duties as required to contribute to the mission of the Saskatoon Food Bank and Learning Centre.
Qualifications:
- Preferred high school diploma or equivalent. Equivalent knowledge and experience will be considered.
- Attention to detail required, consistency in all documentation required.
- Computer skills are required.
- Experience or willingness to learn about basic income tax rules and software.
- Experience working in the community sector with diverse groups, including vulnerable populations.
- Multi-tasking, time management, analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Highly developed interpersonal skills, including cross-cultural awareness and understanding.
- Good written, verbal, presentation, listening, and communications skills.
- Demonstrated ability to organize work and to work independently.

Physical requirements:
- Work performed in an office requires the ability to operate standard office equipment.

- Must have visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive reading, etc.
Job Type: Part-time
Pay: $20.61-$26.67 per hour
