Who we need

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Curriculum Design, we are hiring a Curriculum Design Specialist. You will play a crucial role in developing and renewing academic programs, instructional and assessment practices, and learning materials. You will collaborate with subject matter experts, course developers, and faculty to support the design and development of face-to-face, online, and blended curricula for a growing suite of programs across various credential types, disciplines, and audiences.

This is a hybrid role, working 2-3 days a month at our Fredericton campus.

Who you are

You are a quick learner, driven to do more, learn continuously, and share knowledge. You excel at project management and relationship building. Whether from ongoing academic pursuits or direct work experience, you understand post-secondary educational standards and best practices. You want to channel your writing, process building, and communication skills into designing a curriculum that leverages innovative teaching and learning approaches.

As our new Curriculum Design Specialist, you will:

  1. Collaborate: You will collaborate with subject matter experts, course developers, and faculty to understand the goals of new and existing academic programs. You will analyze and translate the program goals into comprehensive curricula, including but not limited to learning outcomes, assessments, and content.
  2. Develop: You will integrate innovative and effective instructional strategies, technologies, and resources into curriculum design to enhance student engagement and achievement.
  3. Evaluate: You will review curricular needs and recommend instructional and assessment strategies that account for regulatory requirements, align with program and course learning outcomes, and model accessible, authentic, and culturally responsive pedagogies.
  4. Continuously improve: You will stay current with educational research, pedagogical trends, and advancements in curriculum design and share relevant insights with the team. You will analyze existing curricula alongside available data, including student and stakeholder feedback, to identify areas for improvement or revision to address changing educational needs.
  5. Communicate: You will track and report on progress on curriculum development and renewal projects and proactively identify and communicate risks to the timely completion of curriculum projects. You will meet and share knowledge regularly with your manager, colleagues, and collaborators to support transparency in the curriculum and instructional design process.

You have:

  1. The experience: You have a Bachelor's or Master's degree. You have proven experience as a curriculum designer, instructional designer, or content developer. Or, you have transferable expertise and a commitment to growing your skills. You bring a creative and innovative mindset with a passion for knowledge sharing, continuous improvement, and lifelong learning.
  2. The project management skills: You are driven and have outstanding self-management skills. You can set and track project deliverables, maintain open communication with cross-functional teams, elicit work products from those around you, and meet your deadlines. You can prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  3. The interpersonal skills: You have exceptional oral and written communication skills. You can build trusting relationships with diverse stakeholders. You prioritize taking and fostering a collaborative and inclusive approach to curriculum design and can engage program leadership, subject matter experts, and faculty to understand evolving needs and requirements.
  4. The technical skills: You are highly proficient with the MS Office suite, including Teams. You are comfortable analyzing, aggregating, and interpreting data and can create presentations to show your findings and inform decisions.
  5. The nice-to-have but optional skills: You have in-depth knowledge of curriculum development principles, educational standards, and instructional design models.
