Golf Course Assistant Mechanic - Silvertip

Are you mechanically inclined and passionate about keeping equipment in peak condition? Join our team as a Seasonal Assistant Mechanic and play a vital role in supporting the maintenance and operations of our stunning golf course.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Superintendent, the Assistant Mechanic supports the Lead Mechanic in maintaining and repairing our fleet of 80 new golf carts. We are looking for an employee that will show initiative and is willing to grow into a possible larger role with expanded duties down the road. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Lead Mechanic in routine maintenance and inspections of golf course equipment, including mowers, tractors, aerators, golf carts, and other machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical issues and assist with repairs to minimize downtime.
  • Perform quality checks on equipment performance after maintenance or repairs.
  • Conduct basic preventive maintenance tasks to extend equipment lifespan.
  • Maintain an organized workspace and support inventory management for parts and supplies.
  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines while performing maintenance tasks.
  • Support the implementation of eco-friendly practices when servicing equipment.
  • Monitor fuel supplies and ensure all equipment is ready for operation.
  • Collaborate with the Turf Care team to address equipment needs for specific tasks.
  • Assist in training grounds crew members on the safe use of equipment under supervision.
  • Report any incidents or equipment issues to the Lead Mechanic / Superintendents promptly.
  • Keep accurate records of maintenance activities as directed by the Lead Mechanic.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices and new technologies as directed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Experience in troubleshooting, repair, and preventative maintenance servicing on golf carts and some utility vehicles (electric and gasoline) is considered an asset.
  • Must have a valid AB driver license or willing to obtain an AB license.
  • Experience and knowledge of all golf course equipment is considered an asset.
  • Experience with other small engine repairs is considered an asset.
  • Knowledge of Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS).
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal), time management and organizational skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals.
  • Team player with a positive attitude.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Must be willing to learn and develop new skills.
  • Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Availability to work flexible hours, including early mornings, weekends, and holidays.

Duration : This is a Full-Time seasonal position, April to October / early November. Overtime during busy periods may be required.
