Overview:

Under the direction of the Director of Finance, the Credit Manager will be based out of our Surrey, BC head office and accountable for results associated with the management of the Accounts Receivable portfolio of Op Co’s within Sonepar Canada. Major responsibilities include credit risk management, establishing and maintaining key relationships with both internal and external customers, and managing a staff of credit professionals.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the OpCo Credit team within the Sonepar Canada framework to be best-in-class, and execute core deliverables in a high performance culture.
  • Establish, implement and maintain standards of excellence for Credit functions and personnel. Use KPIs to measure and report actual results versus standards.
  • Manage the professional development of direct reports including technical, communication and supervisory skills.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage communication relationships with internal stakeholders and key external customers.
  • Represent the Credit function for the region.
  • Develop and manage business relationships with the Executive, Sales, Branch & Finance functions. Ensure that the Credit related business needs of all parties are fulfilled.
  • Prepare, distribute and discuss various reports on a regular basis with OpCo management.
  • Manage the Accounts Receivable assets of the region of responsibility with a focus on the following:
  • Minimize bad debt write offs by maintaining effective risk management processes and protocols through to ultimate disposition.
  • Establish and maintain effective and efficient credit worthiness processes and a disciplined collection framework.
  • Manage credit terms for all customers and develop alternative methods to securely sell.
  • Ensure and enforce all pertinent regulatory compliance as related to federal & provincial statutes. Monitor federal and provincial legislation for changes to the regulatory environment.
  • Prepare various reports to communicate performance and other measurements as required.
  • Represent the Company at industry credit meetings, trade functions and other external events.
  • Travel to meet with key customers, general meetings, conferences, etc.
  • Other duties as required.

Requirements:

  • 10+ years in a credit management role preferably in construction credit, with supervisory experience.
  • 3+ years of management experience.
  • CCP Designation or equivalent is required.
  • Superior relationship and business management skills.
  • Superior communication skills (verbal, written and presentation).
  • College or University Diploma/Degree preferred.
  • Credit contact workflow software experience preferred (coAction, GetPaid, Akritiv, etc.)
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.

  • Salary range: $95,000 - $110,000 plus bonus, commensurate on experience.

Please note that, whilst not expected, the company may pay at a rate outside of the range for this role where appropriate. Actual compensation commensurate with the candidate’s experience, education, internal parity, role complexity, role level, and other relevant factors. The advertised salary range relates to British Columbia and is provided in accordance with the BC Pay Transparency Act. We recognize however that salaries are often driven by market forces in the local area where a candidate is based and accordingly the salary range may not apply outside of British Columbia.
