About the Credit Investment Analyst role
We’re looking for an outstanding Analyst to join a team that’s building the best corporate card and finance platform in Canada. In this role, you’ll be responsible for ‘diligencing’, analyzing, and driving the growth of Float’s credit portfolio.
What your week-to-week looks like:
- Conducting thorough and efficient analyses of business fundamentals and financial performance for Float’s potential credit investments, ranging from VC backed growth companies to longstanding, profitable Canadian businesses
- Participating in due diligence calls with executives (CFO, CEO, VP Finance and Controller)
- Recommending “go” / “no-go” decisions and appropriate credit limit sizing
- Leading the submission of approval recommendations to our Credit Committee
- Monitoring a portfolio of credit accounts, tracking performance to ensure credit quality, identifying potential risks, and taking proactive measures to manage and minimize portfolio risk
- Providing customer support by handling customer inquiries and resolving issues promptly, ensuring positive customer experience
- Partnering with our Sales & Marketing and Customer Experience teams to relay feedback on what types of opportunities are adding the most value to Float
- Using our portfolio performance data to derive insights on how we can grow and shape the portfolio for optimal impact
You’ll be great in this role if:
- You love investing. The analysis you’ll be conducting is similar to how a private debt or equity fund would think about its investments.
- You’ve got the experience. To be successful in this role, we’re looking for 2+ years of accounting, transaction advisory, consulting, corporate or investment banking, or other similar experience, ideally with a bachelor’s degree (though that’s not required)
- You relate to people extremely well. While you need to search deeply for the right answers, you’ll need the ability to do so in a way that partners with our prospects collaboratively to uncover the truth, vs. doing so confrontationally.
- You think critically. You don’t just take others’ opinions for granted; you truth seek to validate or disprove investment hypotheses.
- You’re conscientious. You make few mistakes in calculations or otherwise. Even while being creative and taking risks to find the best due diligence approach, you are extremely thorough and meticulous in the way you go about your work.
- You’ve got an understanding of the market. You’re commercially focused with an understanding of the market and the business we’re in and have an ROI mindset.
- You’re eager to continue your own learning. Scrappy and voracious, you want to know the ‘why’ behind every answer. You’re a thinker who can combine quantitative thinking with qualitative judgment.
- You’re skilled at analyzing data to uncover insights and trends that inform investment decisions. Familiarity with SQL or similar tools is a plus.
- Bonus, but not required: You also speak French to be able to communicate with Quebec-based prospects and executives.
This role won’t be a fit if:
- You do not like to work asynchronously
- You are not a self-starter and do not like to work independently
- You aren’t meticulous
- You don’t like ambiguity
- You don’t like regular feedback on your work
- You aren’t super passionate about helping Float build the best corporate card and finance platform in Canada
Don’t meet every single requirement? If you’re excited about this role, and you strongly align with our values but your past experience doesn’t align perfectly, we encourage you to apply anyway. You may be the right candidate for this, or other future positions.
- Competitive compensation & total rewards
- Flexible work hours and time off when you need to recharge
- Flex, in-office and remote options available, depending on your preference
- Small team = lots of autonomy to make impactful decisions
- A personal Float card with a monthly stipend to spend on what matters most to you
- A dog-friendly office
- Being able to say you helped build Canada's best corporate card and spend management platform
