As the Creative Design Lead, Nostalgia Residential, you will play a pivotal role in bringing to life the vision for our newest and most exciting master-planned community, Nostalgia Townlet. You will ensure the delivery of industry-leading, high-quality, aesthetically pleasing, and functional architectural designs while adhering to budgetary and regulatory constraints. Your creative vision and leadership will be instrumental in driving our projects to success.

A Day in the Life of a Creative Design Lead, Nostalgia Residential:

In this dynamic role, you will oversee a variety of product offerings, each tailored to meet diverse market demands and consumer preferences. You will be responsible for creating realistic, industry leading, and next-level renderings that not only capture the essence of our design philosophy but also set new standards in residential architecture in the Calgary market.

The Creative Design Lead, Nostalgia Residential, will be crucial in ensuring that Nostalgia Townlet becomes a benchmark for innovative, high-quality residential living. You will leverage your high degree of creativity to ensure that every design is visually stunning while maintaining budgetary and regulatory obligations. Your ability to pre-plan all streetscapes and individual homes to exacting standards will ensure that each home contributes to the appeal and promise of the community. Your vision and leadership will guide our design efforts, ensuring that every home is a testament to excellence in architecture and design.

Responsibilities:

  • Leadership & Vision:
    • Meticulously plan and design industry leading streetscapes and elevations to ensure consistency, quality, and adherence to our vision, paying special attention to corner homesites, terminating vistas and any other critical elevations.
    • Create architectural guidelines internally and reviewing third party designs in alignment with the current concept.
    • Provide leadership and oversight to the design team.
    • Provide creative design leadership that aligns with the master plan for all Single-Family and low rise Multi-Family residential projects, guiding them through all phases from concept to completion.
    • Lead and mentor junior and intermediate direct reports.
    • Collaborate closely with other Nostalgia Townlet team members from different areas of the business, including Sales, Land Development, Construction, Purchasing, Marketing, and Finance.
  • Design & Technical Expertise:
    • Produce high-quality, visually compelling streetscapes / renderings that are realistic, creative and push the boundaries of traditional residential architectural design.
    • Review and approve building partner designs to ensure alignment with design guidelines and master plans.
    • Review and approve onsite mockups to ensure compliance with original design intent.
    • Serve as a technical resource to solve design-related challenges throughout project construction.
  • Product Development:
    • Apply your creative talents to develop unique and inspiring designs that stand out in the market.
    • Lead innovation in product search and design to maintain Jayman’s industry leadership and enhance community and home development.
    • Anticipate consumer trends, demands, and opportunities.
    • Work with divisions and show home merchandisers on interior selections, upgrades, and themes for new show homes.
  • Market Intelligence:
    • Stay informed on competitor and market trends, design trends, and customer feedback.
    • Conduct quarterly market research and analysis.
    • Ensure designs adhere to industry best practices, local building codes, and sustainability standards.

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • Education:
    • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Architecture, Interior Design, or a related design field.
    • Professional designation is a benefit.
    • Advanced proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and any other visualization software.
  • Experience:
    • 7-10 years’ experience as a residential home designer with a proven record of designing industry leading new homes to satisfy market demand.
    • 7-10 years’ experience in New Home Construction and Architectural Design.
    • Demonstrated history of residential design innovation and success.
    • Proven track record of managing people for results is a benefit.
  • Skills:
    • Advanced proficiency in architectural software such as AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, Lumion, Microsoft Dynamics CRM and any other visualization software.
    • Excellent communication skills, both written and in a public speaking setting is a benefit.
    • Excellent presentation skills are a benefit.
    • Strong problem-solving abilities and high attention to detail.
    • High level of creativity and ability to provide a portfolio of new home plans.
    • Proven ability to organize, direct, assess, coach, and mentor a team is a benefit with prior experience.
