The Opportunity

This position works out of our Mississauga office in the Structural Heart (SH) division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

As the Country Manager, you’ll be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all SH activities in the assigned region. Identifies and recommends the short, medium, and long-term business strategies to the SH Canada and Latin America (CALA) Area Head & GM. Prepares and is accountable for the company´s plans and budgets. Identifies and develops business opportunities in coordination with SH CALA Area Head & GM. All local sales and marketing functions report to this function. Responsible for local and legal compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Define short, medium and long-term strategies for the SH division in the region, considering products, local market, investment, etc. for the achievement of business objectives, increased profit and market share. Direct team’s activities to achieve set strategies.
  • Identify actual and future business opportunities and support the CALA Area Head & General Manager.
  • Manage SH Region’s P&L, leading the plan and financial reviews/presentations.
  • Develop and calculate a budget to meet organizational goals; forecast future needs including human and material resources and capital expenditures.
  • Make and execute operational decisions with a strategic perspective.
  • Maintain consistent contact with major suppliers, key customers, industry associations and government representatives.
  • Seek, identify, analyze, and present new business opportunities and improvement ideas to senior management.
  • Provide general direction to country and functional areas, groups and/or operations.
  • Keep the organization’s vision and values at the forefront of decision making and action.
  • Demonstrate effective change leadership.
  • Build strategic internal and external partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
  • Interact with senior/executive level management, outside regulatory agencies, government officials, customers, vendors, partners and/or suppliers.
  • Coordinate across functional areas, business units, and/or geographies to achieve company or area goals.
  • Develop and/or identify new work processes that will have broad applicability throughout the company.
  • Manage distributors to achieve their business objectives; maximize performance using appropriate goals and KPIs.
  • Establish territory sales plans/quotas together with local and CALA’s team.
  • Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent. Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential.
  • Provide direction, coaching and guidance to personnel; evaluate performance and assist in career development planning for subordinates.
  • Partner with CALA HQ on product launches focusing on segmentation, pricing and contracting strategies.
  • Lead the Market Model implementation across the region.
  • Provide information regarding market, competition, political/social/economic conditions as needed.
  • Master Structural Heart management systems including Smartsheet, SFDC, Power BI and other designated systems.
  • Participate in local region’s BACs and other region-specific cross-division meetings.

Required Qualifications

  • Completed Bachelor’s degree required; MBA an asset.
  • 8+ years in a sales leadership role or other relevant commercial experience in Medical Device space.
  • Proven track record managing people in a sales environment.

  • Proven success in an entrepreneurial environment.
  • Strong organizational, communication and process skills to support business planning and initiatives.
  • Proven ability to lead a diverse team and challenge the status quo while building strategic alliances.
  • Cross functional collaboration skills.
  • Ability to travel 50%.
