The Opportunity

This position works out of our Mississauga office in the Structural Heart (SH) division. Our business purpose is to restore health and improve quality of life through the design and provision of device and management solutions for the treatment of structural heart disease.

As the Country Manager, you’ll be responsible for planning, organizing, and executing all SH activities in the assigned region. You will identify and recommend short, medium, and long-term business strategies to the SH Canada and Latin America (CALA) Area Head & GM. You will prepare and be accountable for the company’s plans and budgets, identifying and developing business opportunities in coordination with the SH CALA Area Head & GM. All local sales and marketing functions will report to this function, and you will be responsible for local and legal compliance.

What You’ll Do

  1. Define short, medium, and long-term strategies for the SH division in the region, considering products, local market, investment, etc. for the achievement of business objectives, increased profit, and market share. Direct team’s activities to achieve set strategies.
  2. Identify actual and future business opportunities and support the CALA Area Head & General Manager.
  3. Manage the SH Region’s P&L, with responsibility and accountability. Lead together with region’s finance the plan, forecast, and financial reviews/presentations.
  4. Develop and calculate a budget to meet organizational goals; forecast future needs including human and material resources and capital expenditures; determine and establish organizational structure and supervisory relationships subject to CALA Area Head & General Manager approval.
  5. Make and execute operational decisions with a strategic perspective.
  6. Maintain consistent contact with major suppliers, key customers, industry associations, and government representatives to achieve the objectives of the division.
  7. Actively seek, identify, analyze, and present new business opportunities and improvement ideas to senior management.
  8. Provide general direction to country and functional areas, groups, and/or operations.
  9. Keep the organization’s vision and values at the forefront of decision-making and action.
  10. Demonstrate effective change leadership.
  11. Build strategic internal and external partnerships to further departmental and organizational objectives.
  12. Interact with senior/executive level management, outside regulatory agencies, government officials, customers, vendors, partners, and/or suppliers.
  13. Coordinate across functional areas, business units, and/or geographies in order to achieve company or area goals.
  14. Develop and/or identify new work processes that will have broad applicability throughout the company; contribute ideas for improving work processes and achieving organizational goals; investigate and solve problems that impact work processes and personnel in multiple units or departments; develop and communicate a vision for a major segment of the organization.
  15. Manage active distributor performance to achieve business objectives; maximize performance using appropriate goals and KPIs.
  16. Plan and drive towards achieving Company’s vision, objectives as well as Division mission and strategies.
  17. Establish territory sales plans/quotas together with local and CALA’s team.
  18. Recruit, coach, and develop organizational talent. Foster a diverse workplace that enables all participants to contribute to their full potential in pursuit of organizational objectives.
  19. Provide direction, coaching, and guidance to personnel; evaluate performance of and assist in career development planning for subordinates.
  20. Partner with CALA HQ on product launches with a focus on segmentation, pricing, and contracting strategies.
  21. Lead the Market Model implementation across the region. Support with the analysis and execution of main takeaways.
  22. Provide as needed information regarding market, competition, and political/social/economic conditions.
  23. Achieve mastery of Structural Heart management systems including Smartsheet, SFDC, Power BI and other systems as designated. Use these tools to manage regional business.
  24. Participate in local region’s BACs and other region-specific cross-division meetings.

Required Qualifications

  1. Completed Bachelor’s degree required; MBA an asset.
  2. 8+ years in a sales leadership role or other relevant commercial experience in the Medical Device space.
  3. Proven track record managing people in a sales environment.

  2. Proven success in an entrepreneurial environment.
  3. Strong organizational, communication, and process skills to support business planning and initiatives, strategic planning, account segmentation, and sales process.
  4. Proven ability to lead a diverse team and challenge the status quo while building strategic alliances/relationships within the organization and with customers.
  5. Cross-functional collaboration.
  6. Ability to travel 50%.
