Plains Midstream Canada has a career opportunity for a Corrosion Specialist within the Operations team. This role would interface between maintenance and Field Operations to ensure required cathodic protection systems and equipment management activities are planned, coordinated and executed. Reporting to the Manager, Maintenance, we are looking for a candidate who thrives in a fast-paced environment and is confident in their ability to deliver program execution while managing the needs and constraints of various stakeholder groups.

This is a field position, working out of the PPTC Pipeline Regina office with frequent travel throughout Plains assets in Southern Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba.

• Act as intermediary between corporate corrosion group and field Operations personnel.
• Facilitate scope definition and coordination of required cathodic protection (CP) surveys of pipelines, tanks, and facilities as prescribed by Plains corporate corrosion group. Complete annual cathodic protection surveys, arrange resources (internal or contractor) for test station readings on pipelines and tanks, rectifier inspections.
• Plan and coordinate field maintenance and remediation of CP deficiencies as required.
• Plan and coordinate rectifier/ground-bed installations, monitor and maintain existing facilities.
• Review and analyze pipe surface inspection data.
• Correct and mitigate interference issues with other pipeline companies.
• Ensure all CP data collected in the field is uploaded into specified system of record and provide reports to the Corrosion Supervisor.
• Coordinate and analyze chemical injection programs and read internal corrosion monitoring devices at prescribed frequencies.
• Develop and maintain a 10 year long range budget and execution plan.
• Manage third-party contractors and ensure adherence to budget and change management protocols.
• Perform project management duties for corrosion capital maintenance work.
• Maintain and build healthy internal and external project stakeholder relationships.
• Provide support and expert advice to other teams on corrosion matters.
• Model and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.

• Post-secondary education Engineering degree, Engineering Technology Diploma with AMPP/NACE CP Level 1 or Level 2 certification.
• 7+ years of experience with construction, testing, monitoring, and troubleshooting of cathodic protection systems and/or pipeline maintenance programs.
• Journeyman electrician certification would be considered an asset but not required.
• Understanding of the usage of multi-meters and related electrical test equipment.
• Strong computer skills, familiarity with database systems such as PCS would be preferred.
• Familiarity with CMMS systems such as Maximo, SAP.
• Ability to interpret equipment manuals, service notices, technical documents and data.
• Possess excellent communication ability, both written and verbal.
• Must be organized and proficient in record keeping.
• Capable of problem solving and able to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work under pressure on multiple projects concurrently.
• Reliable, responsible, and safety-conscious.
• Valid Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
• Ability to travel for extended periods (up to 35%) throughout assigned district to coordinate field execution plans as needed.
• Cleared criminal history (background) check and satisfactory reference checks.
• Compliance with the company’s Drug & Alcohol Policy.
• Ability to complete safety training and other required training and certifications.
• Expectation that employee resides within 100km of the assigned field office Regina, SK.
