A stable GTA homebuilder with a fully diversified portfolio of land development, residential and commercial building and property management is in search of a Corporate Accountant. A great opportunity for a Corporate Accountant with operational experience in the real estate development industry looking to enhance their career in a solid working environment. Reporting to the Controller and VP Finance, the Corporate Accountant will play an important role in providing reliable, timely, and efficient support and reporting for corporate entities. The position entails preparation of monthly and annual financial statements and providing meaningful analysis.
Responsibilities
Full accounting cycle for all corporate entities
Internal and external partner reporting for each corporate entity including support for GL balances where needed
Cash management for corporate entities including cashflow analysis
Monthly fee billings, chargebacks from related entities, and collections
Monthly intercompany reconciliation tied to corporate and project entities
Bank reconciliation and HST filings (monthly, quarterly, annual)
PP&A schedules and corporate leasing agreements
Maintain monthly/quarterly review of the Shareholder’s Loan
Monthly/quarterly compliance reporting to lenders, government (incl T5018), and partners
Identify and implement process re-engineering opportunities
Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Standards (IFRS and ASPE), internal audit and client accounting services and internal review standards
Invoice processing and review AP aging for all corporate entities
Perform ad hoc tasks as necessary
What makes you stand out?
Post-secondary education (Accounting, Business or Finance or equivalent)
Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar accounting experience preferably with a real estate company
Highly proficient in MS Excel and other spreadsheet applications and experience with real estate accounting software such as JDE, Newstar, and Yardi
Strong analytical skills and detail-oriented
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Highly driven, committed, organized and flexible with the ability to meet challenging deadlines and multiple priorities
Must be able to maintain confidentiality, utilize judgment, and work with minimal supervision
