Job Purpose:
We are seeking a Corporate Accountant, working on a hybrid schedule and based at our North Vancouver, BC headquarters. In this role, you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day corporate accounting and reporting of the Company's corporate and limited partnership entities, JV and institutional reporting, assisting with onboarding and accounting for new property acquisitions, preparing and coordinating distributions for investors, and assisting in the development of process and best practices for assigned accounting tasks. You will be working directly with the Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Corporate Reporting:
    • Assists with reviewing day-to-day accounting, reporting and banking transactions of the Company's corporate entities, including liaising with the property accounting team.
    • Assists the finance team with bank reconciliations, bank transactions, and review of payables.
    • Assists in the preparation of annual institutional reporting and the external financial audits, as directed by the Accounting Manager and/or Corporate Controller.
    • Monitor cashflow positions and perform weekly reconciliation and reporting of cash positions.
    • Responsible for completing and delivering month-end and year-end corporate reporting for corporate entities based on established deadlines.
    • Assists the finance team with acquisitions and dispositions as needed.
    • Continuously improve the month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes.
  2. Acquisitions/Distributions:
    • Assist with reviewing the new acquisitions ASC-805 reports and cost seg reports and completing the purchase price allocation.
    • Assist with reviewing Investor funds posting, ensuring funds are received into the correct account.
    • Assist with monitoring the incoming investor funds and providing recommendation of cash movement to the Property LP.
    • Assist with managing investor information in Yardi, including accuracy of the Capital Roll Forward Reports.
    • Assist with the monthly maintenance of the investors LP books, bank reconciliation, posting transaction and monitoring of the ownership percentages.
    • Assist with reviewing the annual distributions, refinance distributions, disposition distributions, and preferred distributions.
    • Assist with timely completion of acquisition closing reconciliation workbook.
  3. Other:
    • Assist with special ad hoc projects periodically requested by the Senior Accountant, Accounting Manager and Corporate Controller.
    • Assist with accounting research and issue resolution of corporate and operations accounting issues to determine the accounting and disclosure implications of significant transactions as well as the implementation thereof.
    • Assist with documentation and collection of corporate AR including invoice generation, related banking transaction and accounting entries.

Key Skills, Knowledge & Experience & Qualifications:

  • Must have completed a university degree in accounting or a related field. Working towards CPA is an asset.
  • At least 1 - 2 years of related experience or public practice firm experience.
  • Experience in creating year-end working papers, responsible for US Corporate entities, and corporate accounting.
  • Experience working with US GAAP.
  • Experience in the commercial real estate, residential real estate, or property management sectors is preferred.
  • Experience with Yardi Voyager software is considered an asset.
  • Demonstration of analytical, quantitative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills. Ability to allocate one's time effectively, work under pressure, and manage tight deadlines.
  • Possess a good sense of urgency and the ability to handle and adapt to multiple demands, competing priorities, and constant changes with structured deadlines and deliverables.
  • Ability to work at a detailed level as well as at a higher and conceptual level.
  • Willingness to learn and work in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and can collaborate with individuals across departments and countries.

Salary Range: $65,000 - $85,000 plus benefits
