Job Summary

The Coordinator, Security works to actively engage the University community to embrace and embed a risk and safety culture. The Security Coordinator supports and promotes risk, security, emergency management, health and safety programs and initiatives within the UFV community, and Safety and Security through working with external groups and organizations.

The Coordinator, Security educates and supports compliance with applicable external regulatory, legal and privacy requirements, and internal guidance and policies relating to risk, security, emergency management, and health and safety initiatives. They provide department support through involvement in, and representation on projects and response to incidents, crisis and emergency events, including the provision of First Aid support.

Qualifications
  • Post-Secondary diploma in related field, Occupational Health and Safety, Security, Emergency Management, from a recognized institution.
  • Occupational First Aid Level II and CPR Certificate is required.
  • Minimum three (3) years related experience in the field including progressive experience.
  • Certified Registered Safety Professional, Private Investigators License, and/or Emergency Management Designation would be considered assets.
  • Working knowledge of legislation and principles pertaining to health and safety; such as relevant federal and provincial legislation, the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and WorkSafeBC Regulations.
  • Must hold and/or be able to obtain a valid Security License.
  • Well-developed skills in interpersonal and written communication.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, be flexible and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work in a team environment.
  • Must hold a valid BC Driver’s License and have access to vehicle.
