About the Role

The Coordinator, Recruitment, Outreach and Community Engagement manages the administration, coordination and evaluation of the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences' (FASS) student recruitment and outreach programs, and public events which offer a broad range of faculty and departmental programming to non-university populations. The Coordinator provides leadership in the development and implementation of strategies to improve the pipeline of qualified and diverse students into the Faculty's undergraduate programs; and to extend humanities and social science education to the community. The role coordinates marketing, administration, design, delivery and evaluation activities of outreach programs while establishing and maintaining working relationships with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. The Coordinator facilitates a variety of projects, including program evaluations. The Coordinator administers and manages program and event budgets and participates in the annual budget development process by preparing cost projections, administering expenditures, and studying and projecting potential revenue from outreach initiatives.

The ideal candidate is a strategic, relationship-driven professional with a passion for student recruitment, outreach, and community engagement. They excel in communication, event planning, and partnership building, with the ability to connect diverse audiences to the opportunities within FASS. Strong organizational skills, creativity, and adaptability are essential, along with a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion. Experience in post-secondary recruitment, marketing, or student services is an asset. The successful candidate thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment, is proactive in problem-solving, and is dedicated to fostering meaningful connections that inspire prospective students to choose FASS at SFU.

Qualifications

  • Student Recruitment & Outreach Expertise – Ability to develop and implement strategies to engage prospective students, schools, and community partners effectively.
  • Event Planning & Coordination – Experience organizing and executing recruitment and outreach events, both in-person and virtual, to enhance engagement and visibility.
  • Strong Communication & Relationship-Building Skills – Proven ability to connect with diverse audiences, including students, parents, educators, and community organizations.
  • Marketing & Social Media Awareness – Knowledge of promotional strategies, content creation, and digital outreach to attract and inform prospective students.
  • Data Analysis & Reporting – Ability to track recruitment metrics, assess outreach effectiveness, and inform decision-making with data-driven insights.

Additional Information
