The BC Public School Employers' Association is seeking an experienced professional to support school districts in hiring internationally educated French teachers to work in K-12 public schools. Their work will contribute to student success in BC by supporting international recruitment initiatives and French language education in British Columbia.

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Strategic Talent Acquisition, the Coordinator, International Recruitment & Certification works on our French recruitment team. Their responsibilities include evaluating candidate eligibility, providing guidance on immigration and teacher certification processes, collaborating with external partners, developing resources, managing recruitment pipelines, assisting candidates and employers, ensuring compliance, and tracking success.

The main responsibilities of the job are:

  1. Facilitating international recruitment by providing country-specific informational content and tools to internationally educated French teachers, helping them navigate the certification, immigration, and job application process.
  2. Providing guidance and resources to employers on immigration regulations, certification processes, and French fluency assessments, ensuring compliance with local and federal requirements.
  3. Collaborating with the Make a Future marketing and web teams to develop comprehensive online resources and materials, including content on immigration, certification, and job application processes.
  4. Engaging with post-secondary institutions, government agencies, and employment organizations to enhance candidate pipelines.
  5. Supporting recruitment initiatives by identifying and engaging potential international candidates, utilizing networks with educational institutions and employment agencies.
  6. Coordinating recruitment campaigns and events to attract qualified international candidates, including job fairs and information sessions tailored to internationally educated teachers.
  7. Developing resources to support employers in hiring internationally educated French teachers and informational content to support candidates.
  8. Staying informed on changes in immigration laws, certification standards, and recruitment best practices, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations.
  9. Coordinating with legal teams or immigration specialists to address complex cases involving work permits or immigration challenges.
  10. Maintaining accurate records of international candidate applications, work permits, and certifications and generating reports on recruitment efforts and outcomes.
  11. Analyzing data on the success of international recruitment initiatives and recommending improvements to processes based on insights.

Education and experience

The Coordinator, International Recruitment and Certification must possess:

  1. A post-secondary degree, certificate or diploma in human resources or a related field
  2. Three (3) or more years of relevant professional experience
  3. Training and experience as a certified immigration consultant is an asset. Certification from the College of Immigration and Citizenship Consultants is ideal.
  4. Ability to develop and foster robust working relationships
  5. Ability to collaborate in a team-based setting
  6. Excellent interpersonal skills
  7. Exceptional oral and written skills
  8. Strong data tracking and reporting skills
  9. Experience working in the public sector, and direct experience in the K-12 sector is an asset
  10. Bilingual in French and English is an asset

Competitive Compensation and Benefits

The expected hiring salary range for this position is $77,871 - $84,741. We offer 13 statutory holidays, a competitive benefits package, including extended health and dental with immediate coverage upon starting, and a $2,000 annual wellness allowance, as well as pension with the Municipal Pension Plan after 12 months of full-time service. In determining salary, BCPSEA considers many factors including the candidate's competencies, skills and experience as well as internal equity.

This is a Ministry-funded role for a term ending June 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension.

Hybrid Structure

We offer a hybrid work schedule with the option for remote work for the majority of the work week. There will be times when in-person work is required.
