POSITION DESCRIPTION

Title: Coordinator, First Tee – Ontario (Hamilton, Niagara, Southwestern Ontario)
Status: Contract (12 months)
Location: Flexible Hybrid
Reports to: Program Manager, First Tee – Ontario
Ideal Start Date: January 2024

OVERVIEW:

Golf Canada is looking for a motivated, mission-driven individual with excellent communication skills to assist with the implementation of the program in the province. The Coordinator, First Tee – Ontario will report directly to the Manager, First Tee – Ontario and will assist with the administration and execution of the First Tee program within the province.

AREAS OF FOCUS:

  • Assist with the day-to-day administration efforts related to First Tee programs, including the golf facility program, School Program, Community Program, and volunteer/coach training;
  • Fulfill direct program inquiries and requests from golf clubs, golf professionals, teachers, parents/guardians, and community leaders;
  • Recruit volunteers to assist with program implementation at Program Locations (golf facilities);
  • Coordinate with Program Locations on scheduling, registration, and data collection/reporting;
  • Update and maintain the reporting database (Salesforce) and website (WordPress);
  • Assist with the delivery coordination of branding, equipment, and program material with First Tee Headquarters and First Tee – Canada staff;
  • Work with Marketing and Communications lead on effectively promoting First Tee programs and initiatives to increase participant registration and attract interest from donors;
  • Work cooperatively and effectively with Golf Ontario staff to meet provincial reporting obligations;
  • Assist with the collection and review of coach and volunteer background checks to ensure Safe Sport compliance;
  • Engage with golf course owners/operators and diverse communities to foster, grow, and nurture key relationships;
  • Other duties as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, & ABILITIES:

  • Work (including internship) experience in sport, event management, administration, and/or program management;
  • Post Secondary Degree in Sport Business/Management or related field is considered an asset;
  • Knowledge of the Canadian Golf industry is considered an asset;
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong interpersonal skills and an outgoing personality;
  • Motivated, enthusiastic individual who is willing to travel within the province;
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills;
  • Bilingualism (French and English) considered an asset;
  • Ability to travel within the province and work overtime as needed.

NOTE: Golf Canada’s regular hours of work are 40 hours per week, namely Monday to Friday, 8 hours a day, and 5 days a week including a one-hour lunch. However, the demands of your position may mean that your hours of work will vary, may be irregular, and will be the hours required to meet the objectives of your employment.
