Job Details:
Position Title: Coordinator, Student Diversity and Inclusion (LGBTQ+ Resource Centre)
Status: Full-Time
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Inclusion and Belonging
Campus/Location: North Campus
Salary: FT Support Payband H (Start $36.29 – Max $42.13)

About the Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion Role:

The Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion will report to the Manager, Student Inclusion & Belonging and works closely with campus partners and stakeholders to promote and implement programs and activities promoting diversity and inclusion at Humber (some travel to all campuses is required). Specifically, the coordinator will create opportunities through programming for students to develop a sense of belonging within the larger Humber environment, promote visibility, and provide support and referrals to services both on and off campus for marginalized students and student groups. Additionally, the Coordinator will participate in collecting materials to build the LGBTQ+ resource centre assets and ensure the resource centres are open and accessible to students, staff, and faculty by scheduling volunteers and student staff.

Under the supervision of the Manager, Student Inclusion & Belonging, the Coordinator, Student Diversity & Inclusion will be responsible for creating, developing, and implementing the services, programs, and initiatives that promote cross-cultural awareness and understanding through an intersectional approach. Oversee the LGBTQ+ resource centre including assisting with the hiring, training and guidance of volunteers and student staff where applicable.

Education
The successful candidate will possess a 3-year diploma/degree or equivalent in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Women’s and Gender Studies, Social Work, Human Development, Leadership Theory/Student Development Theory. Including a sound knowledge of:

  • The Ontario Human Rights Code
  • Related equity legislation
  • Multi-faith issues
  • Anti-oppressive frameworks

Experience
The incumbent will have a minimum of 3 years of professional work experience. In addition, the candidate will have demonstrated involvement in diversity and inclusion activities; as well as experience working with students from diverse backgrounds and knowledge of instructional design and delivery; understanding of student development and adult learning theory; and lived experience as a member of the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
