Job Information

The Cook Assistant reports directly to the Head Cook but has a close working relationship and day-to-day work accountability to the Nursing Clinical Care Coordinator. The incumbent works as part of the Dietary team to provide meal service to residents of an 18-bed long-term care facility and 2 Transitional Care Beds as well as special requests from within the Northwest Territories Health and Social Services Authority (NTHSSA).

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Knowledge of food, food preparation and equipment, safe food handling, and proper storage methods.
2. Knowledge and skills relating to nutrition, cooking, serving methods, and portion control.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Two (2) years of directly related experience in food preparation in a health care facility.
2. Equivalencies will be considered.
