Requirements:

  • Impeccable written and verbal communication skills.
  • Outstanding interpersonal skills.
  • Works well under pressure.
  • Can delegate tasks effectively and has excellent time-management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and critical-thinking skills.
  • High level of dependability and integrity.
  • 5+ years of previous experience in a leadership finance role.
  • CPA designation is preferred.
  • Previous experience hiring for and managing a finance team.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Office Suite and other financial software.

Job Summary:

This position is a maternity leave replacement position for a term of 16 months, from May 1, 2025, to August 31, 2026.

The Controller reports to the Chief Financial Officer and oversees the business financial department. Upon joining PPCR, one of your first duties will be to take over the full-cycle accounting process ensuring accurate and timely reporting. The candidate must be accustomed to regular change and challenge and is capable of providing a mix of both hands-on detailed work with managerial oversight, when required.

Responsibilities:

  • Overseeing the consolidation of financial reports across five operating companies and two holding companies.
  • Implementing and refining accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls.
  • Recommending improvements to ensure the integrity of the company's financial information.
  • Coordinating and overseeing the books and records including monthly reporting for operating entities.
  • Preparing monthly and quarterly financial reports to various lenders.
  • Continuing the improvement of different PPCR financial and accounting processes.
  • Building strong working relationships with all department managers.
  • Guiding the accounting teams in the operating companies.
  • Participating in the hiring, training, and retaining of skilled accounting and finance staff.
  • Leading a team of six at the head office accounting department.
  • Working on special projects, including forecasting, budgeting, and Pro-forma modeling.

Compensation:

Salary: $90,000 - $110,000 per annum (based on experience).
