Job description

Aecon-EBC Ladore General Partnership is in a partnership consisting of Aecon and EBC to deliver the Ladore Spillway Seismic Upgrade located in Campbell River, British Columbia. BC Hydro awarded the contract to Aecon-EBC. The goal of the project is to provide safe and reliable power to the communities of Vancouver Island while managing the flood risk. Some of the work includes replacing three new spillway gates, a new hoist tower, and deck structure.

Reporting into the Project Manager, the Contracts Specialist will collaborate and work closely with the Project Internal Legal Counsel and Prime Contracts Managers. The Ladore Project is located on Vancouver Island in Campbell River, BC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviewing subcontractor invoices before submitting to finance.
  • Generally, assist and support the Contracts Manager or a member of the Legal / Commercial group.
  • Assist project staff with the interpretation and practical application of contract documents.
  • Assist project staff with identification, documentation and quantification of changes in the Work and claims.
  • Act as the point of contact for contractual matters on the assigned project.
  • Document significant events on projects.
  • Monitor and maintain project change order log.
  • Coordinate and prepare claims.
  • Draft notices to client of changes or events requiring notice.
  • Interface with project team on site and prepare commercial updates to the project team and clients as required.

Required Knowledge and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or an educational background in Business Administration, Law, Communications, or as a Paralegal.
  • Minimum 2 - 5 years of experience in the construction industry in contract administration.
  • Previous experience working for a construction company preferred.
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of legal documents, navigating contracts and interpreting them.
  • Basic knowledge of contract administration procedures.
  • Experience in drafting and administering contracts.
  • Display sound judgement and leadership skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Good interpersonal and analytical skills.
  • Good planning and time management skills.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products with advanced Word skills.

The expected pay range for this position is $100,000-$110,000.
