Position Summary:
Through a partner agency, the Contractor, Business Architect will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Toronto Pearson by analyzing, designing, and implementing innovative operating models that will enable the airport of the future. This individual will collaborate with various stakeholders, including senior leadership, operations, IT, and external partners, to identify opportunities for improvement, develop strategic roadmaps, and drive transformation initiatives. By embedding within various departments, the Business Architect will gain an in-depth understanding of operations and play a role in achieving organizational transformation objectives and enabling a continuous improvement culture.
Accountabilities:
- Collaborate with senior leaders to innovate and align the business operating model with long-term strategic goals
- Develop business architectures and roadmaps to transition functions from resource-driven to technology-driven models
- Maintain a long-term strategic vision for airport operations and identify trends and technologies to enhance efficiency and passenger experience
- Oversee and enhance business processes to align with the unit's strategic vision and goals
- Document current operating models, including process maps, flowcharts, and organizational structures; and facilitate root cause analyses to identify inefficiencies and bottlenecks
- Strengthen metrics to track operational excellence and adopt a data-driven approach
- Use data analytics to evaluate performance, inform decision-making and provide actionable recommendations to leadership for process improvements
- Build strong relationships to gain support for process optimization initiatives and collaborate with stakeholders to design efficient and aligned operating models
- Identify opportunities for automation and conduct feasibility studies to evaluate solutions
- Support change management efforts and partner with cross-functional teams to implement changes and manage risks
- Monitor project progress and report on success metrics and benefits
- Lead a team of skilled analysts to assess, design, and deploy new operating models
- Foster a continuous improvement culture responsive to the airport's dynamic environment
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field
- 10 years’ experience designing and implementing new target operating models in large Corporate/Operations environment that encompass all aspects of org/people, policy, process, technology and analytics working together with IT
- 5 years’ leadership experience with teams in direct or indirect reporting structures.
- Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO), is considered an asset
- Strong understanding of airport operations, including passenger processing, baggage handling, and airside activities is an asset
- Lean Six Sigma, TOGAF Business Architect and/or Certified Business Process Professional (CBPP) are assets
- Knowledge of industry standards and best practices, such as IATA and ICAO and a strong understanding of airport operations are assets
- Ability to obtain and retain a Transportation Security Clearance

- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- High level understanding of IT systems, data architecture and organizational design
- Ability to develop and analyze business cases
- Ability to develop and deliver executive presentations to influence key stakeholders and drive strategic decisions
