University Canada West (UCW) invites applications for a continuing track faculty position within the Master of Business Administration (MBA) and Undergraduate programs for Marketing, Strategy, Entrepreneurship, Leadership, and Computer Science within the Department of Arts, Communication & Social Sciences. The position is a full-time contract position; however, it offers opportunities for permanent appointments at the Associate Professor or Professor rank.

We are specifically seeking faculty with experience and the ability to teach the following:

UCW is seeking highly talented, motivated, and qualified professionals ready for the next level of challenge in their careers to teach at our Vancouver campuses. Successful candidates will participate in a wide range of activities outside the classroom, including student support, institutional, faculty, and departmental committee meetings, and professional activities in keeping with their disciplines, both within and outside the institution. Applicants must have a record of scholarly activity or research commensurate with the rank sought and demonstrable success in teaching.

Qualifications:

Education: Applicants for continuing faculty positions in the Undergraduate & MBA programs are required to have a related doctoral degree.

Work Experience: 5+ years of related teaching experience in a post-secondary setting.

We are a teaching-intensive university, so candidates must have teaching experience in a degree-granting program at the undergraduate and/or graduate level, including course preparation and delivery, curriculum development, and development of online material/lectures. Additionally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent and innovative pedagogical practices and engagement in teaching-related scholarly activities. The ability to teach face-to-face, in blended, and online learning environments is essential.

Our continuing faculty positions include a research component, and we support research by our faculty, especially as it contributes to great teaching and intellectual development. Your application should include research accomplishments to date and present research areas you might be interested in pursuing in the future.

Candidates must have knowledge and experience in course design and development and a proven track record of scholarly activity in the field and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.

Specific Qualifications for Applicants for Computer Science Department:

  • Ph.D. in Computer Science/Information Technology/Management Information Systems or relevant disciplines.
  • 5+ years’ teaching experience in a post-secondary setting in Computer Science/Information Technology/Management Information Systems or relevant disciplines.
  • Superior record of scholarly contribution in the candidate’s field of research or demonstrated research and publication potential.

Specific Qualifications for the Leadership Faculty:

  • Ph.D. in Leadership, Organizational Development, or related fields.
  • 5+ years’ teaching experience in a post-secondary setting in Leadership or relevant disciplines.

Specific Qualifications for Artificial Intelligence:

  • Ph.D. in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • 5+ years’ teaching experience in a post-secondary setting in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Proficiency with Canadian Data Governance and regulatory environment in the machine learning spaces.
  • Advanced quantitative, data analysis, and analytical thinking skills.
  • Advanced knowledge in programming languages such as C++, JAVA, R, or Python.
  • Advanced knowledge in Data Visualization tools, such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
  • Advanced knowledge of database technologies such as Microsoft SQL or No SQL databases.
  • Experience in Digital Marketing and relevant technologies.
  • Knowledge and experience in course design and development.
  • Track record of scholarly activity in the field and/or scholarship of teaching and learning.
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching, assessing student work, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Knowledge of industry-aligned applications of fundamentals of machine learning, economic and social impacts of Machine Learning on society including bias, and general abilities and limitations of Machine Learning today and into the near future.

Specific Qualifications for Strategy:

  • Ph.D. in Strategy, Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship, Ethics, or related fields.
  • 5+ years’ teaching experience in a post-secondary setting in Strategy, Innovation, Design, Entrepreneurship, Ethics, or related fields.

Vacation: 8 weeks paid vacation in each calendar year (prorated for partial calendar years).

Language of work: English.

The continuing faculty positions are located in our Downtown Vancouver campuses at 1461 Granville St. Vancouver, BC V6Z 2V3 and 626 W Pender St. Vancouver, BC V6B 1V9. Applicants must be able to attend in-person classes.
