Reporting to the Production Manager, the Contents Technician will work hand in hand with other members of the team under supervision, as well as individually in processing personal property (contents) in residential and commercial settings.
Job Duties
Work under supervision in residential and commercial settings handling personal property (contents) as follows:
Packing, loading & transport
Disassembly and reassembly
Mitigation services
Dry and wet cleaning
Inventorying and chain of custody
Deodorization (ozone, foggers, etc.)
Ambient air filtration
Cleaning and laundering items
Participate as directed in the following activities:
Vehicle safety and maintenance inspections
Maintaining vehicles in clean, serviceable condition
Construction polyethylene enclosures
Removing and disposing of debris
Setting and maintaining equipment
Participate in development of content scopes of work, including:
Characterization of smoke particulate
Test cleaning
Cleaning methods
Deodorization methods
Identify salvageable versus non-salvageable contents
Inventory photographing
Provide excellent Customer Service
Work under time constraints to meet specific timelines
Ensure attention to detail and keen sense of safeguarding other people’s property and information
Practice good housekeeping at all times to ensure a safe and non-cluttered worksite
Participate in and demonstrate an understanding of safety principles and practices; follow all safety policies and procedures to support a safe working environment, including safe operation of machines and equipment
Comply with all Belfor policies and procedures, as well as legislative requirements
Proactively communicate job site conditions and concerns that may affect completion of the job to the appropriate person
This role could be required to act as a “lead” periodically as designated by their manager
Attend all Belfor sponsored training courses
Qualifications
Working knowledge of restoration industry best contents practices including:
Restoration following fire and water losses
Degradation factors
Decontamination
Real, sentimental and historical evaluation
Familiarity with chemical cleaning products including Safety Data Sheets
IICRC certification (Fire and Smoke and/or Odour Control and/or Water Damage) preferred
Comprehensive understanding of customer service principles and practices
Eligible to operate a motor vehicle per Belfor’s vehicle policy
Ability to work within a team or independently as needed
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Proven ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment
Basic/Intermediate/Advanced computer and/or tablet/iPad experience with Microsoft Office programs such as Excel, Word and Google Suite
Willing to work nights, on call and weekends when requested
Periodic travel may be required
