POSITION DESCRIPTION

Position: Content Marketing Assistant
Reports To: Assistant Manager, Marketing & Communications
Last Updated: April 2025
Qualifications: A full or part-time daytime student at Sheridan College with a GPA of at least 2.5. Must be enrolled for the full 2025/2026 academic year. Not have an upcoming academic co-op term for the 2025/2026 academic year.
Term: May 2025 – April 2026
Location: Home Campus, Student Union Office/Hybrid
Hours: 10-15 hours per week
Pay Rate: $18.19

General Responsibilities

As a Content Marketing Assistant, you will be a creative force behind some of the Sheridan Student Union’s most engaging website content. From creating copy for upcoming events and student savings pages to curating the Sheridan Life Blog content and interactive quizzes, you are responsible for creating consistent, accurate, and accessible copywriting for a wide range of SSU initiatives.

You will report to the Assistant Manager of Marketing and Communications and the Director of Marketing, Communications and Creative.

Specific Duties

Event Pages

  • Develop creative, concise, and engaging copy for SSU event pages.
  • Draft, edit, and publish approved event pages to the SSU website in alignment with SSU’s Brand Voice, SEO objectives, and accessibility requirements.

Student Savings Pages

  • Draft and publish approved student savings pages.
  • Curate the 2024 – 2025 Sheridan Life Blog Content Calendar alongside the Assistant Manager, Marketing and Communications.
  • Brainstorm relevant and intentional blog topics that align with the student life cycle and SSU organizational objectives.
  • Pitch blog content to fellow students.
  • Edit, draft, schedule, and publish Sheridan Life Blog content written by fellow students in a timely manner and in accordance with the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA).
  • Write blog content on occasion.
  • Promote published blog content with fellow SSU staff on a consistent basis.

Sheridan Life Monthly Updates

  • Send a monthly update request to all departments within the SSU.
  • Create the Sheridan Life Monthly Update Draft page.
  • Publish approved Monthly Updates to the SSU Website and LinkedIn.
  • Add the announcement and bit.ly to the SSU homepage.
  • Create the Monthly Cover image in Canva.

Internal Promotion

  • Share links to new blog content, student discounts, and/or event pages with fellow SSU staff.
  • Support the development of interactive quiz content that may be used across both digital and in-person marketing strategies.
  • Participate in meetings with other student leaders, Assistants, and Managers to brainstorm engaging quiz content throughout the school year.

Creative Corner

  • Upload and maintain the Creative Corner page and digital student submissions on a monthly basis.

SSU Website and Blog Homepage Management

  • Update the featured blog content on the #SheridanLife page in alignment with the student life cycle.
  • Add, sync, and maintain SSU homepage sliders are up to date.
  • Ensure all website content uses the correct tags and categories.
  • Add, update, and publish staff pages on the SSU website.

  • A team player who loves digital marketing and creating content.
  • Basic understanding of using Canva and design.
  • Knowledgeable about Squarespace and the SSU is a plus.
