SFU Food oversees and supports a wide range of dining options on SFU’s Burnaby campus, including vending, retail outlets, independent and national contractors, and licensed brands. At the centre is Canada’s only 24/7 university dining venue—the Dining Commons—serving students living on campus, as well as faculty, staff, and visitors. It offers all-you-care-to-eat access, chef-inspired international dishes, and fresh, customizable meals. We focus on local, seasonal, and plant-based ingredients, with menus that accommodate a wide range of dietary needs.
About the Role
The Content and Engagement Manager plays a vital role in planning, designing, and delivering food-centric events and programs that educate and inspire the SFU campus community. This position leads student-driven engagement initiatives and develops compelling digital content and marketing materials for SFU Food, including its website, social media channels, and other platforms. With a strong focus on consistent messaging and brand alignment, the manager ensures content is regularly refreshed to effectively reach and engage key audiences. Collaborating closely with the SFU Food team, the role also contributes to menu reviews, marketing strategies, local programs, food trends, and insights from peer institutions.
The ideal candidate is passionate about food and brings hands-on background experience in culinary, food service, or hospitality. They possess strong skills in photography, graphic design, writing, and video creation, with the ability to craft engaging visual and written content across social media, websites, email campaigns, and promotional materials. Proficiency in website management and content editing is essential, along with a talent for writing clear, compelling copy for blogs, social media, product features, and advertising. The candidate stays current with marketing trends, emerging platforms, and industry best practices to ensure content remains fresh, relevant, and impactful.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Education, or a related discipline and two years of related experience in social media, content creation, promotion and experience in the food and hospitality industry, including the local food scene, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
