Job Description

As the Consultant, Group Benefits & Travel, you will be responsible for the technical and strategic development of external partnerships with regards to both mandatory and optional benefits plans. You will have a strategic impact on the development of growth and revenue with each group and work effectively within timelines to deliver renewals and contracts. You will be focused on implementing retention and growth strategies with partners to ensure corporate growth. Communicate and articulate the organization's strategic vision concerning business plans, growth plans, products and business philosophy. Analyze business opportunities and constraints with each partnership organization, make recommendations to assist the business development team and support with the implementation of their business plan. You are an effective relationship manager with highly effective negotiating skills to formally outline renewal and rating strategies to ensure profitability across both organizations.

What you will do here:

Core Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the overall design and management of group medical, dental, life, disability, and travel benefits for clients
  • Align partner interest per agreements to achieve direct distribution annual plans
  • Complete annual renewal analysis and prepare client reports and presentations
  • Complete experience reporting and review plan financial performance
  • Support the consulting team in preparing documents for client presentations and meetings
  • Work closely with operations to resolve client issues
  • Participate in industry conferences, seminars, etc. in order to keep abreast of industry trends and activities
  • Build relationships with clients, carriers, and internal, cross-functional teams

Business Development

  • Responsible to cross sell/introduce all product offerings into existing groups
  • Leverage events as lead generation opportunity
  • Identify and have working pipeline across all lines of business

What you bring to the table:

  • Leadership attributes with ability to lead a team both internally and externally
  • Licensed in Group Benefits, with an A&S or Life license would be preferred
  • Ability to manage partners and execute on expectations of the business
  • Confidence and market presence to represent the business at large client events
  • Business development capability
  • Strong knowledge of business performance
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel (advanced level)
  • Bilingual, French and English would be an asset
  • No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.

Please note that candidates may be asked to work outside of regular hours of operation in order to attend events.
